With the traffic conditions of Mumbai getting worse by the day, I am happy to ride a scooter to work. The compact dimensions of the TVS Scooty Zest means it can squeeze in the tightest of the parking spots. But the one thing that makes me smile every time I ride the scooter is its peppy powerplant. The TVS Jupiter sourced 110cc motor has been plonked in the featherweight 98kg body of the Scooty Zest which makes the scooter a hoot to ride. Owing to this fact traffic signal drags has turned into an exciting affair and the Scooty Zest has dented many an egos of riders on higher displacement bikes with its brisk acceleration. The scooter is also blessed with lively handling dynamics and one can literally carve your way out of traffic.
My better half is also impressed with the Scooty Zest owing to its ease of use and the fact that it’s so light. Talking about under seat space, despite its small dimensions it can easily swallow a full face helmet thereby signifying its generous storage space. The TVS Scooty Zest fared poorly with respect to fuel efficiency. The scooter returned us an overall mileage of 40kmpl which is on the lower side. This can be credited to my over enthusiastic wrist and the traffic filled commute route. Also the Scooty Zest has started emitting an annoying squeaky noise when ridden with a pillion. But despite its flaw, everyone in the ZigWheels team likes it and this can be gauged from the fact that Vikrant himself has snatched away the scooter from me. It’s been over a week as I keenly wait for the Scooty Zest to comeback and make my daily commute exciting again.
Date Acquired: October 2014
Total km: 2,139km
Overall fuel efficiency: 40kmpl (As Tested)
Cheers: Performance, Lightweight
Sneers: Low fuel efficiency, Squeaky noise from rear suspension
