Ola S1 Pro Latest Updates
The Ola S1 Pro is Ola Electric’s flagship electric scooter which promises among the highest range and most performance of any Indian electric scooter. To top it off, the S1 Pro is feature-packed as well. Ola Electric has now crossed 2 lakh registrations in 2024, being the first EV brand to do so. Here’s everything you need to know.
Ola Electric is planning to power their electric scooters using batteries developed in-house which should make the S1 Pro a whole lot cheaper.
Ola S1 Pro Key Highlights
Price: The Ola S1 Pro is priced at Rs 1,28,999 (ex-showroom including EMPS subsidy).
Design: The Ola S1 Pro is equipped with compact dual projector LED headlights that complement its fluidic design, evoking a European aesthetic with single-tone body panels and sleek blacked-out alloy wheels. Its retractable pillion footpegs are seamlessly integrated into the bodywork. It gets a telescopic fork at the front and a cast aluminium single-sided swingarm.
Features: The Ola S1 Pro offers a range of features, including a comprehensive full-LED lighting system, a 7-inch touch-enabled TFT display with smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth, and support for WiFi, LTE, and GPS. Notable functionalities encompass side-stand detection and anti-theft alerts, geo-fencing, reverse mode, Get Home mode, Take Me Home lights, and a Limp Home mode. The MoveOS 3.0 OTA update introduces additional enhancements such as three riding modes (Bolt, Vintage, and Eclipse), a vacation mode for extended battery preservation during periods of inactivity, proximity-based unlocking, simulated motor sounds, hill hold assist, three levels of regenerative braking, Hypercharging (providing 50km of range in just 15 minutes), Bluetooth calling, and even key sharing.
Motor: The Ola S1 Pro is equipped with a mid-drive IPM motor that delivers a nominal power output of 5.5kW and a peak power output of 8.5kW. It is powered by a 4kWh battery pack, which takes approximately 6.5 hours for a full charge. It offers a certified range of up to 195km in Eco mode.
Suspension, Brakes & Other Details: The scooter is constructed on a tubular frame, featuring a telescopic fork and a monoshock unit at the rear for suspension. Braking is handled by a 220mm disc at the front and a 180mm disc at the rear, equipped with standard CBS. It rides on alloy wheels wrapped in tubeless tyres, with a total weight of 125kg (kerb), a seat height of 792mm, and 165mm of ground clearance.
Rivals: The Ola S1 Pro rivals the likes of the Ather 450X, Simple One, and the TVS iQube ST. In a similar price bracket, you could also purchase the Apache RTR 160, Revolt RV400 or the Pulsar NS160.
Range: The Ola S1 Pro has an ARAI certified range of 181km on a single full charge. Ola claims that the S1 Pro will deliver a true range of 170km in Eco mode and 135km in Normal mode.
Charging Time: With a 750W portable home charger, the Ola S1 requires 5.5 hours to fully charge its 4kWh battery. Of course, using the nascent Ola Hypercharging network, it is possible to charge this electric scooter much faster.
Variants: The S1 Pro Gen 2 is available in a sole variant, featuring 5 colour options: Amethyst, Stellar Blue, Matt White, Jet Black, and Midnight Blue.
The brand has also seen over 2 lakh registrations in 2024, allowing it to take over 46 percent market share in the two-wheeler EV segment

Ola S1 Pro Pros and Cons
S1 Pro Advantages
Gets a stylish design and an affordable price tag
S1 Pro Disadvantages
The range might be insufficient for certain riders, and there are concerns regarding the build quality and dependability
S1 Pro Expert's Conclusion
Due to changes in FAME 2 subsidies, Ola Electric couldn't maintain the original pricing for the S1 Air when it was eventually launched a year later. The S1X appears to be Ola Electric's endeavor to offer an affordable electric scooter, competing in price with 100-110cc petrol-powered scooters.
Ola S1 Pro Expert Review
Within a short span of just over a year, Ola has established itself to be a serious contender in the electric two-wheeler space. The Ola S1 Pro model has seen two serious software updates in this timeframe; and for 2023, the electric scooter is enhanced with the MoveOS 3 OTA software roll-out. Here’s how each new feature enriches the riding experience, and what more could Ola really do to make the S1 Pro even better.
More Alive
Ola has recalibrated all of its riding modes to offer a more spirited experience. The Ola S1 Pro feels sprightly in Hyper and doesn’t feel inadequate in Sport or Normal mode either. In fact, in the latter two riding modes, the e-scooter is over a second quicker in the run to 60kmph than what it could muster with MoveOS 2 software.

There is a healthier spread of torque across the board until the top speed of each mode is achieved. The throttle response is a bit more prompt than before but there’s still some work to be done in this regard. There is still a marginal delay between the twisting throttle and the scooter moving forwards or making that overtake. And while slowing down rapidly, you will still find the scooter accelerating ever so slightly even after you shut the throttle. This delay becomes quite prominent in Hyper and Sport modes where there’s more juice flowing to the motor.
Thankfully, the scooter no longer kills the power entirely when you tap the brakes. There is a sizable drop in the current that is supplied to the motor but the scooter can still roll forwards. This makes the Ola S1 Pro more manageable than before when executing tight U-turns.
More Adjustability
Thanks to advanced regenerative braking, the rider can choose how rapidly or slowly they would like the scooter to slow down on its own accord. There are three levels to choose from: Low, Default and High. In order to test just how different each mode is, we conducted a VBox deceleration test, where in Normal mode, we let the scooter naturally slow down. Here’s how much time and distance each mode took:
Regen Level |
45-30kmph Deceleration Time |
45-30kmph Deceleration Distance |
Low |
12.52s |
129.86m |
Default |
8.43s |
87.39m |
High |
6.21s |
64.26m |
I preferred to keep the regen in the Default mode as it was easy to manage the scooter in bumper to bumper traffic with the throttle delay issue still persisting. In the highest setting, you don’t have to rely on the brakes as much to slow down the scooter.
Thanks to these improvements, the Ola S1 Pro has once again reclaimed the top spot in our range tests; only just, though.

Ola S1 Pro MoveOS 2 |

It ran for 147.6km in Normal mode with default regen setting. It could’ve gone for a bit more but the issue was the Eco mode. Once the charge levels drop below 15 percent, the S1 Pro automatically switches to Eco, where the performance is drastically curbed. It still remains unusable for commuting, taking a while to set off, and can only reach a VBox-tested top speed of 37kmph – thus making overtaking a tricky affair. Ultimately, it remains a limp home setting rather than an actual riding mode.
More Charging Solutions
Hopefully, the need for the situation should never arise for you as Ola has finally begun setting up its ambitiously extensive Hypercharging network of fast chargers. At the time of recording this video, we only found two Hyperchargers stations in Pune with one of them appearing offline. Two more are in the pipeline and all of them are currently at BPCL fuel stations.
More Customisation
Tired of looking at the same dash graphics? MoveOS 3 brings two more screen layouts that Ola calls Moods. Eclipse is the stock one, Vintage and Bolt are the new additions. Each one gets its own dedicated dark mode that can be kept on always or when the sun. They also get a unique engineered motor sound that is bellowed from the speakers. Head over to our video review on Youtube to hear each one of them.
I loved the screen graphics in Bolt with the dark theme activated. I am not a fan of the sounds as they feel too engineered and not quite authentic. My bigger complaint is that these sounds are throttle position based and not speed dependent. You could be at standstill and make it seem like you are at India Bike Week all over again, or you could be coasting at a reasonable pace with the only sound accompanying you being the same droning one that you get at idle. Hence, I just kept the sounds switched off.
There are still two Beta features that have gone active with MoveOS 3: Proximity Unlock and Hill Hold. In order to activate the former, you have to connect your smartphone to the scooter and follow the instructions on the app by moving around to sync the sensors. Once this process is completed, you could simply just walk away from the scooter to lock it down and just approach it to unlock and ride away.
While it sounds simple, there are still a few bugs that need to be ironed out. While the locking process worked always, the unlocking process wasn’t always as smooth. Not only during the time of the shoot but also when I was using it for a couple of days as a daily runabout, the system worked only half the time.
Finally, Hill Hold is one feature that does make it easier to manage the scooter on steep inclines. Prior to activating the feature, you must first calibrate it by going to a flat road, toggling on Hill Hold in the settings menu, turning on the motor and pressing the brakes for three to four seconds. Later, when you do arrive on an incline, press the brakes till the hill hold prompt appears on the dash and only then let go of the brakes. The Ola S1 Pro will remain locked for a minute after which the system will warn you that it is getting deactivated. In order to kill the hill hold, you can either tap the brake or simply roll away.
There are a few more nifty features that are pretty self explanatory, which you can read more about in this story.
Much Better
There’s no mincing it, with the MoveOS3 updates, the Ola S1 Pro is a much better scooter than the one we rode before. Not only is it more peppy in all riding modes but also more manageable and customisable. However, if the engineers were to iron out the throttle calibration issues that still persist and somehow make that Eco mode usable, then it would be an even better package. So, as it stands, it is definitely worthy enough for you to enjoy Party mode.

4.6The Great Ola and The Bad
The great ola and the bad ola ola s1 pro is the topend model of s1 series.Pro means it have biggest battery and fastest motor in series. Its claimed range is 181 km.The pros:it have the most powerful motor in the segment. It have very good pickup. The 4kwh battery gives you assusrance of 100km(2 passengers/normal mode) or 125km(1 passengers/normal mode). That range is sufficient as an epectric scooter.Have great seat comfort means no issues for longer rides.Silent as hell. Many people like the sound their bike (vroom vroom) but it is very silent as it only motor and battery but they give you option to stimulate sound from speakers. The boot space is very good you can place two small size helmets easily. The display have good brightness you can see every details even in the sun. There are 4 modes in this ev scooter which lets you choose power or more kilometers. Its hyper mode is very powerful the scooter gets instant acceleration. The cons:it is very costly compared to any petrol bike or scooter the differnce in pricing will take about 35000km to 50000km or 3-4 years. You can't change modes if the system detects that you are using too much power.Normal mode will be stuck for the journey. It is not a reliable ev as it can broke down anytime without any reason.I myself faced this issue.Once you want to get it repaired you need to make a complaint to ola they will pickup your vehicle in 2-3 days and repair it in 2-3 days sometimes more.Basically once you compaint to repair it they will take about 1 week to fix your scooter and give it to you.Its build quality is pretty bad you can feel it on a bad road.Even in high speed winds you can feel that it is all plastic and can be blown away. The horn and indicator should have been like any other bike or scooters because their position is very illogical.Horn button specially is far from hand itself. The conclusion:it is a good ev but with lots of drawbacks. You may only buy it if you travel more than 60km daily only then its cost will be justified. Most of these issues are not only with this ev but all the ev but ola seriously need to work on it build quality and buttons.
