Have you ever imagined a world with a battery-powered Ford GT40? Now you don’t need to.
With all the talk around town revolving around electric cars we can’t help but let our minds wander around some classics and what they would be like if fitted with an electric powertrain. Well, Everatti, a UK-based specialist involved with reinventing cars as EVs, brings all those thoughts to reality with its efforts and this time, it has gone one step further with its choice of automobile.
Yes, the Ford GT40 is now restored and modified with an electric powertrain thanks to Everatti’s combined effort with US-based classic reviver, Superperformance, the only company with a license to build approved replicas of the Shelby Cobra. It only makes sense that Everatti partnered up with the ‘vintage resurrector’ to build a restomod whose origins involve Caroll Shelby. Fun fact, this prototype sits on Superperformance’s chassis for the GT40.
There are no deets on the electric powertrain, but judging by the attention to detail on the design, there’s no doubt it will be a worthy alternative to the fuel-pumping V8 block that churned out massive horses in the original. Plus, Everatti has assured everyone that its focus lies on the weight distribution of the car, a factor that built the core essence of the GT40.
Yeah, yeah, we can all drool over this knowing we can only see but not touch. Though there’s no disclosure of the price tag attached to this beauty, it’s surely restricted to the enthusiasts that sleep on a bed of currency bills.
What are your thoughts on this electric take on the classic GT40? Yay or nay?
