Bajaj Auto has announced that it will be hiking the prices of its motorcycles from January 2017. The increase in prices is expected to range from Rs 700 to Rs 1500, depending on the respective model. The price hike will not be applicable on the recently launched Dominar 400.
The reason behind the price hike is mainly due to the upgradation of the motorcycles to comply with BS- IV norms. Also, contributing to the hike are the rising costs of raw material such as aluminium, steel, rubber and oil. As per the new laws, all manufacturers will have to move to BS-IV norms by April 1, 2017. Bajaj Auto has mentioned that it wants to be the first one to initiate the transition to comply with the next emission norms.
While few models from the company’s current lineup are already BS-IV compliant, Bajaj is aiming to have the remaining BS-III compliant motorcycle upgraded to BS-IV by end of January 2017.
