What happens when you get tired of waiting for the XSR

This Yamaha R15-based cafe racer is nothing but a beauty. Called Cafe155, it’s made right here in India by a gent named Mohammed Fahd, who’s a transportation designer–which is probably why he’s got the proportions and the lines spot-on on this custom build.

Let’s start at the front. The factory fairing has been replaced with a retro-style bikini fairing that can house a circular headlight but for now has a faceplate with number 46. Hmm, we wonder what it means; probably Fahd’s lucky number. The windscreen is also new and blacked-out.

Gone are the factory side panels and in come stubby front fairing extensions that look like they have integrated winglets. Pretty cool. Behind the front fairing are the same clip-ons but they now have bar-end mirrors.

While the rider’s seat remains as is, the rest of the rear end has been completely redesigned with a particularly good looking circular tail light that’s quite literally like a cherry on top. Even the stock exhaust has been swapped with an aftermarket unit that completes the cafe racer appeal.

Fahd has designed the parts and had them 3D printed, though, looking at the photos, the finishing looks quite perfect. Cafe racers are still a niche in India and the most affordable factory-made cafe racer is the Royal Enfield Continental GT. Even Hero MotoCorp tried its hand with the Splendor Pro Classic, without much success. It’s always great to see artists like Fahd customise their motorcycles and with such finesse.
