Quick Highlights

  • Tata Harrier EV spotted high altitude testing in Leh ahead of launch.
  • Was seen sporting a rear electric motor, leading us to believe this is the dual-motor AWD variant.
  • Gets a multi-link rear suspension to support the new powertrain setup.
  • Exterior seen with aero-specific 5-spoke alloys, to get other tweaks as well.
  • Expected to be launched by March 2025.

We have snapped the Tata Harrier EV being tested in the high altitude terrain of Leh ahead of its expected launch by March 2025. And this is the first time the dual-motor all-wheel drive variant of the electric SUV has been snapped testing. To support the new electric powertrain, Tata Motors has made some big changes to the Harrier EV’s rear suspension.

Also, the spied test mule seemed nearly production ready as it was boasting a handful of different design elements over the standard ICE model.

Tata Harrier EV Dual-motor And Rear Suspension

This is the first time the Harrier EV was clearly spotted in its dual-motor guise as we have an exclusive image of its rear axle. Tata already has confirmed that the Harrier EV will be available in a dual-motor layout with all-wheel drive. Also, one can notice the battery pack which sits bang in between both the axles. Do note that technical specifications are yet to be divulged, but we expect it to come with multiple powertrain options including a single motor two-wheel drive one.

But the bigger talking point here is the new multi-link rear suspension to support the revised mechanicals. It will replace the torsion beam setup of the standard car and with this new setup, the Harrier EV’s ride and handling manners could be all the more superior.  But that’s a judgment we’ll reserve for now until we get our hands on it.

Tata Harrier EV Design

The Tata Harrier EV seen in these images seem close to production ready. While the overall silhouette remains the same, you can see that it sports aero-specific 5-spoke alloys. And even though it’s seen with heavy camouflage, we suspect it will get a tweaked front grille and bumpers to stand out from the current ICE model.

Tata Harrier EV Interior And Features

Though we couldn’t bring you the interior spy shots, we suspect it to be similar to the ICE Harrier with probably different colour schemes.

On the safety front, one can expect it to come loaded with up to seven airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control and level-2 ADAS.

Tata Harrier EV Expected Price And Rivals

The Tata Harrier EV is likely to have a starting price of around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). This puts it in contention with models such as the BYD Atto 3 and the upcoming Mahindra XUV.e8 (electric XUV700).
