Entry-level Porsche Macan EV Launched At Rs 1.22 Crore, Alongside A Powerful Mid-spec 4S Variant

Earlier this year, Porsche launched the Macan EV which was available only in two variants: the Macan 4 and the Macan Turbo, both featuring dual motors for an all-wheel drivetrain. Now, the German sports car manufacturer has introduced two additional variants to attract a broader range of customers as it brings down the starting price of the EV. An entry level variant has been introduced with a single motor setup and a much powerful Macan 4S has been introduced which sits between the Macan 4 and the Macan Turbo Electric globally. 

With the new entry level Macan EV, the prices have dropped significantly and now the range starts at Rs 1.22 crore and goes all the way up to Rs 1.68 crore (ex-showroom). Let's take a detailed look at everything that has been introduced in these new variants. 

Porsche Macan Electric: Base-spec 

The newly introduced entry level variant of the Macan Electric gets a single rear axle motor which produces up to 360 PS and 563 Nm. The entry level Macan Electric has significantly reduced its overall weight by 110 kg, by making way for a single motor setup, and ditching the all-wheel drivetrain. It can sprint from a standstill to 100 kmph in 5.7 seconds and achieves a top speed of 220 kmph. The Macan electric has a claimed WLTP driving range of 641 km.

So if you want a Macan with primary focus on efficiency and range, the rear-wheel drive base-spec Macan is the one for you.

Porsche Macan 4S

The new Macan 4S sits between the Macan 4 and the top-spec Macan Turbo electric. It gets a dual motor setup which helps the Macan 4S produce up to 516 PS and 820 Nm.

The Macan 4S can clock a 0-100 kmph time in 4.1 seconds and gets a limited top speed of 240 kmph. It has a WLTP driving range of 606 km. Furthermore, the Macan 4S is also equipped with electronic damping control as standard and it also gets the adaptive air suspension with self leveling system and height adjustment.There’s even a rear-axle steering for further elevating the driving experience and making it more dynamic.

Porsche Macan EV: Off-road Design Package 

Porsche has also introduced an optional off-road design package which further improves the daily rideability of the Macan EV, especially in a country like ours. This package gets redesigned bumpers which increases the approach angle to up to 17.4 degrees, to help go over those really scary speed breakers. With the adaptive air suspensions completely raised up, the Macan EV gets a higher ground clearance of 195 mm (10 mm more than the standard).

The off-road design package can be opted for, at an additional cost of Rs 2.04 lakh and Rs 2.52 lakh if opted for in the exterior body shade. 

Porsche has also introduced a new exterior shade for the Macan EV: Slate Grey Neo and the off-road package in Vesuvius Grey, with new set of 20-inch and 21-inch alloy wheels on offer. 

Porsche Macan EV: Revised Screens 

Porsche Macan EV carries the identical  dashboard layout as before with a large 12.6-inch curved display for the digital drivers instrumentation, a central 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a heads-up display with augmented reality tech and an optional similar sized screen for the front passenger.

But what’s new are the design of the screens for all Macan models as they now get a new ‘emotional’ welcoming animation, and new themes for the apps, which allow colour adjustment for the background of the displays. You can even match the ambient lighting with the exterior colour with 12 hues to choose from.

Porsche Macan EV: Price And Rivals

The entry level Porsche Macan EV is priced at Rs 1.22 crore (ex-showroom), the new mid-spec Macan 4S EV is priced at Rs 1.39 crore (ex-showroom), while the top-spec Macan Turbo Electric is priced at Rs 1.68 crore (ex-showroom). The Porsche Macan EV rivals other luxury EV SUVs like the Audi Q8 e-tron and BMW iX.
