The Taiwanese company will commence its pilot program in Delhi from December 2022
Taiwanese EV giant Gogoro, in alliance with Gurugram-based Zypp Electric, has officially stepped into the Indian market. Zypp’s expertise lies in operating EV-as-a-Service to B2B clients, ride-sharing platforms and consumers, which it shall be bringing to fruition astride Gogoro’s e-scoots.
Initially, the companies will run a pilot programme in Gurugram, Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Bengaluru. However, the operations will begin in Delhi December 2022 onwards.
At the conference, Gogoro has showcased its battery-swapping station and revealed a few interesting details about it. The company claims it will take six seconds to swap an old battery for a new one. Furthermore, not only are these stations modular, but are also self-sustained, and will be able to last up to a claimed 64 hours without electricity, when not drawing power from the grid.

The Gogoro swap stations are weatherproof and can withstand floods too. Each of these stations can support up to 200 swaps daily. Unfortunately, Gogoro and Zypp haven’t revealed any details about the products themselves though the B2B product is claimed to be an equivalent of a 110cc scooter.
There were a bunch of prototypes showcased at the event, one of which was the SuperSport and the other was 2 Delight which focuses on the B2B segment.
Given the scale and the pace Gogoro and Zypp Electric has taken in our market, it won’t be before late-2023 that the product goes on sale. While we expected the Taiwanese brand to make an announcement on the B2C segment, it is unlikely to proceed with it until the pilot programme is complete.
