Pros and Cons of Dzire
- Cooler design
- Spacious boot
- Still great ride quality
- 1st 5-start rated Maruti Car
- Promises great mileage
- Engine noise and vibes can be felt at idle
- AMT is a bit eager to shift up for efficiency and not so smooth
- Lack of headroom in the rear seats
Still the great all-round car that it always was but now with a 5-star crash rating too! The lack of refinement from the engine and rear headroom are offset by a great feature set, efficiency, ride quality and practical use of space.
Expert's Opinion on Dzire?
- The Dzire looks low and wide despite being 10mm taller than the old car. It truly is desirable now!
- Still a very proportionate design and the remaining dimension (Length x width & wheelbase) stay the same
- Full-LED projector headlamps and DRLs grab attention
- Smoked tail lamps, dual-tone wheels and shark fin antenna give it a modern touch
- LED DRLs give it a very distinct personality
- Factory customisation options include chrome trims, puddle lamps and garnishes
- The Dzire is available in 7 colours including a black, blue and red. We don’t have a favourite yet, but th darker colours really make this new design pop!
- Fun fact: Maruti dropped the Swift badging to allow the Dzire to have its own identity. And it should, this new car now looks nothing like the Swift, at least from the outside.
- Could have offered a 16-inch alloy option as an official accessory
- 15-inch alloy wheels look small, and the tyres are narrow and look it too. Lower variants even get smaller 14 inch wheels
- While mostly everything else is LEDs the indicators are regular bulbs
- Design is similar to the Swift and just works
- Beige-black cabin theme looks upmarket and makes the cabin feel airier than the all-black Swift
- Super practical cabin has ample storage spaces
- Plastics on the dashboard are acceptable, but bits such as power window switches, light/wiper stalks feel budget-grade
- Fabric upholstery quality is strictly average
- Optional leatherette upholstery should have been offered in the top spec ZXI variant
- Misses a front central armrest
- Seats could have firmer cushioning for long journey comfort
- Driver’s seat can be adjusted for height, enough room for even six footers
- Second row has ample kneeroom and foot room
- Huge 386-litre boot space is more than sufficient for a long tripSeats adjust for height and steering adjusts for tilt
- Gives a good driving position for most body sizes
- Rear seat headroom is less than ideal, especially for those above 5 '10
- Rear occupants’ forward visibility is limited by huge headrests and low roofline (due to sunroof)
- Boot unlock button doesn't work if the keys aren’t in your pocket
- Sunroof that doesn't eat into headroom
- Wireless Charging
- Automatic Headlamps
- Push-button Start Stop
- Cruise Control
- Automatic Climate Control
- Rear AC Vent
- If features like the Sunroof and cruise control aren’t appealing to you then the ZXI Variant is still nicely loaded
- 2 type-A and 1 type-C USB fast in addition to a 12v accessory charging ports is adequate.
- Missing features include: front armrest, auto-dimming IRVM, Auto Wipers
- Wireless charging pad doesn’t have cooling vents so phone heats up easily
- 9” Touchscreen with Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- Coloured MID in Instrument Cluster
- 6-speaker Arkamy's Tuned Sound System
- ZXI variant may come with a smaller display but still sports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a very similar interface experience
- Some might prefer a fully-digital driver’s display.
- Full 5 Star Safety rating from GlobalNCAP.
- Features include ABS with EBD, ESP. 6 airbags, rear parking sensors and highline tyre pressure monitoring
- Also gets a 360-degree camera
- 360° camera execution could have been better. No 2D/3D modes or free all round view.
- 1.2-litre, three-cylinder engine makes 82PS and 112Nm. Available in petrol and CNG.
- Transmission options: 5-speed MT and 5-speed AMT.
- Very easy to drive. Does not require frequent gear changes in the city.
- Comfortably maintains 80-100kmph on the highway.
- Noise and vibration levels could be controlled better.
- AMT isn’t very smooth, upshifts a little too early.
- Steering is light, quick and predictable. Very easy to drive, and park.
- Firmer suspension ensures better highway stability and cornering fun.
- The Dzire feels comfortable over smooth roads and broken surfaces alike.
- 163mm of ground clearance feels ample for most conditions
- Suspension is firmer than before for stability and this means cabin settles quicker after bumps
- Road surface can be felt inside the cabin
- Needs better insulation.
- It’s a no nonsense car that should be considered by those wanting a spacious and fuel efficient small sedan.
- Low cost of running and maintenance, and strong resale value is also a positive.
