Honda Unicorn Latest Updates
In a flurry, Honda has increased the asking price of all of its models. It isn’t the first bikemaker to do so in the country in 2021. Thankfully, the price premium isn’t too high, especially for the Unicorn. It now bears a sticker price of Rs 95,738 (ex-showroom Delhi), just Rs 1,190 more than before. Head here for more details on the updated prices.
Honda Unicorn Key Highlights
Design: You won’t be able to visually distinguish the new Unicorn BS6 from the older bike as Honda designers haven’t even redesigned a single panel. Despite being present in the Indian market for close to two decades now, the Unicorn doesn’t really look that old.
Features: It’s the same story as with design when it comes to features, barring for an engine kill switch. The Japanese brand has made no effort to modernise the Unicorn BS6 as it misses out on LED headlight or even a ACG starter as seen on the Honda Shine. The three-pod analogue instrument cluster has also been carried forward, which does look dated among the array of digital consoles. It features single-channel ABS.
Engine: The big change on the new motorcycle is the larger 163cc motor. The fuel-injected, air-cooled engine produces 12.92PS and 14Nm. The power output is identical to the Unicorn 150, but torque has gone up by 1.2Nm. It still continues to employ a 5-speed transmission. While the Unicorn BS6 shares its underpinnings with the CB Unicorn 150, the new Honda bike is 6kg lighter than the older motorcycle. Also, the Unicorn BS6 is 10mm shorter than the CB Unicorn 150 but features a longer seat. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic fork and monoshock, while braking is done via disc brake at front and a drum brake unit at the back.
Rivals: In terms of competition, the Honda Unicorn BS6 rivals the Bajaj Pulsar 150 BS6, Apache RTR 160 and the TVS Apache RTR 160 2V

Honda Unicorn Pros and Cons
Unicorn Advantages
Fairly light for an old-school 150cc motorcycle, Gets lots of ground clearance, Features a longer seat for improved comfort
Unicorn Disadvantages
Dated looks,Honda hasn’t provided the start-stop function or a silent starter,Commands a considerable premium over the BS4-compliant version
Unicorn Expert's Conclusion
The Honda Unicorn has always been the go-to bike if you were planning to buy a 150cc commuter. The BS6 update has given the bike a larger motor, while retaining the dynamics of the older bike. It still remains a well-rounded motorcycle, but the BS6 update has come with a hefty price hike.
