Hero Super Splendor XTEC Expert Review
Overview:
The Super Splendor XTEC is a commuter bike that comes with more features than the Super Splendor. It was launched in March 2023 and is Hero’s answer to Honda’s Shine. Let’s take a look at how the Super Splendor XTEC stands out when compared to the Super Splendor.
Design:
The Super Splendor XTEC has a straightforward commuter design that focuses on practicality and ease of use when it comes to daily usage. Hero has added in a bit of sporty graphics on the headlight cowl and that has given the bike a unique look overall. The bike is available in 3 colour options: Gloss Black, Matt Axis Grey and Candy Blazing Red.
The Super Splendor XTEC gets the modern square design headlights with the chrome accent above, like we saw on the Super Splendor, but the headlights are LED.
Engine, Performance & Mileage:
The Hero Super Splendor XTEC is powered by a 124.7cc engine that produces 10.87PS at 7500 rpm and 10.6Nm at 6000 rpm and the bike has a claimed fuel efficiency of 68kmpl. Both of these are decent numbers to meet one’s commuting needs.
Handling & Ride Quality:
On the handling front, suspension duties are taken care of by a telescopic fork at front and twin shocks in the rear, and this setup is able to handle most bumps and potholes with ease. The suspension is neither too stiff nor too soft and does strike that balance needed to handle daily commuting through Indian roads.
When it comes to brakes there are two options. Buyers can either opt for a 240mm front disc variant instead of the standard drum unit. The rear brake is a 130mm drum unit. The bike has 18-inch wheels that provide good stability; and with a kerb weight of 122 kg (drum variant) and 123 kg (disc variant), the bike is easy to handle overall.
Comfort:
Comfort wise, the Super Splendor doesn’t make any compromise and gives the rider an upright riding posture that is very comfortable. Also, the seat is well cushioned and doesn’t come off as too soft or too hard, which is perfect for city rides.
Features:
In terms of features, the Super Splendor XTEC has the edge over the regular Super Splendor and it comes with a fully digital instrument cluster which is similar to that of Splendor Plus Xtec. This new instrument cluster brings Bluetooth connectivity with call and SMS alerts, real time mileage, low fuel, service reminder and malfunction alerts to the bike.
Should You Buy the Super Splendor XTEC?
If you’re searching for a reliable commuter bike that comes with a good set of features then the Super Splendor XTEC might be the right bike for you. The features it packs make it perfectly suited to take on the Honda Shine. The bike overall does a good job giving a full package at a reasonable price.
