BMW i8 proudly carries its environmental credentials and is priced at Rs 2.62 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). Undoubtedly, the exteriors of BMW i8 is its biggest highlight, especially the black body shell highlighted by blue accents looks surreal. Long and stretched nose, raked windshields, and stub rear are among the other key highlights of the exterior design. The Interiors are equally futuristic and its minimalistic design theme augurs well for its appeal. However, the space inside the cabin, especially at the back is available at premium. BMW has equipped i8 with a hybrid powertrain - a 1.5-liter petrol engine producing 231BHP/320Nm and an electric motor putting out 128BHP/250Nm; taking the total output to 362BHP /570Nm. This total might flows to the rear wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. In the Indian market, BMW i8 is competing against Audi R8, Lamborghini Huracan, Bugatti Veyron, and Mercedes Benz AMG GT among others.

What's better than a hybrid sportscar? One without a roof, of course! The BMW i8 Roadster was showcased at the Auto Expo 2018 and it looks jaw-dropping no matter which angle you choose to look at it from. The Roadster gets a fabric roof which folds itself in 15 seconds, and this can be done at speeds of up to 50kmph. But, even with the roof gone, BMW has retained the classic i8 butterfly doors. Compared to the coupe, the Roadster has gone through a minor mechanical change. It gets a slightly bigger battery (34Ah vs 20Ah) and a more powerful electric motor (143PS vs 131PS). The IC unit in the i8 Roadster , though, is the same 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that makes 231PS of power and 320Nm of torque. Combine the two and you can clock 0-100kmph in 4.6 seconds. But, you can also drive in an all-electric mode for 53km with a top speed of 105kmph. Press the eDrive button and the top speed will extend to 120kmph.
