Benelli Imperiale 400 Latest Updates
The 2021 Benelli Imperiale 400 has been launched in India at Rs 1.89 lakh, Rs 10,000 cheaper than the 2020 version. Wondering how Benelli managed to reduce the price? Check out our report here.
Benelli Imperiale 400 Key Highlights
Design: There’s no change in design. The Imperiale sticks to its neo-retro styling with design cues from classic British motorcycles. You have a simple yet elegant front fender, a classic dome-shaped headlight that flows into a slender fuel tank with tank grips, and minimal graphics. Components like the turn indicators, rearview mirrors, and pillion grab handles are finished in chrome. The rear section is reminiscent of a Thunderbird but looks a bit disproportionate compared to the rest of the bike. A pair of spoked wheels complete the overall look of the bike.
Features: The BS6 Benelli Imperiale 400 isn’t exactly packed with features, but it does come with a couple of nifty bits that add to the bike's appeal. For instance, its twin-pod analogue-digital instrument console gets a neat digital fuel gauge positioned smack in between the two consoles. The console also features a gear position indicator which is considered a novelty in classic bikes.
Engine: The Imperiale's BS6-compliant 374cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine may put out the same power output as before -- 21PS and 29Nm -- but it's unlikely to have any significant impact on the riding experience. The bike produces its peak power 500rpm higher than before and makes most of its torque 1000rpm earlier, at 3500rpm. The motor retains its 5-speed gearbox.
Rivals: The Benelli Imperiale 400 BS6 primarily competes against the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Bajaj Dominar 400 and the Jawa 300 in its segment. However, if we were to consider its price, it also takes on the KTM RC 200, Royal Enfield Himalayan, Jawa Perak, and the Husqvarna twins.

Benelli Imperiale 400 Pros and Cons
Imperiale 400 Advantages
Refined engine with oodles of bottom-end torque, comfortable riding posture, big bike feel, gear position indicator and digital fuel gauge.
Imperiale 400 Disadvantages
An expensive proposition, wooden brakes that lack bite and feel, odd position of the footpegs tend to hit your shins while moving the bike around.
Imperiale 400 Expert's Conclusion
In our opinion, the Benelli Imperiale 400 is a wholesome package that offers a vibe-free motor full of character. Its comfortable riding posture and well-balanced suspension setup add to its riding experience. Having said that, the recent price hike due to the BS6 update has made the Imperiale 400 a rather expensive proposition.

True to its name, the classic Benelli Imperiale 400 offers a thrilling riding journey to the owners. It provides an impressive fusion of good performance and functionality for all. I admire its powerful engine, with which it ensures a reliable drive through for city commute while maintaining the fuel efficiency at its best. Its fuel tank capacity is good. In-built with safety elements, it assures safety and ease on the road. The bike has a sleek finish design and is compact and spacy at the same time.

Elegance with Powerful Performance
A Classic sportfisherman, the Benelli Imperiale 400 adroitly combines strong interpretation with timeless indulgence. Its reliable 374cc Mechanism guarantees a staid and energetic ride, which makes it the full option for both megacity commutes and tardy passages. The traditional instruments and antique- themed bodywork of the motorbike inspire a feeling of literal supplication in its two wheeler. Although the riding experience is bettered by its affable running, the grand package might be farther bettered by better retardation interpretation. With its tasteful Expression and dynamic capability, the Benelli Imperiale 400 is a name agent that provides riders with a strong but traditional road ride.

Look classy
Benelli Imperiale 400 gets a modern class styling and with smooth engine. It gives low vibration and is a good looking retro bike. It is one of the longest in the segment and give high stability on highway. The engine is very refined and feels most comfortable. It gives decent real world conditions mileage and offers good ride quality but heat management is not good. It gets decent hardware and good braking performance but is a high and bulky bike. It is a feature loaded bike but gives high service cost.

Timeless Cruiser Elegance
I'll noway forget the Imperiale 400's startling capacity to give a Classic sportfisherman fineness experience. This Benelli sportfisherman is great because it combines traditional 2 Wheeler with easygoing sailing well. It's an excellent combination of comfortable floating and Classic Expression, thanks to Benelli's 2 Wheeler. 4.2Rider footrest
I had test ride with heavy weight plum pillion rider. Didn't cross 60km/hr speed. Posting some pros & cons in my view.PROS-- looks are super nice to fall in love with it. Handling is vert comfortable & good. The sitting comfort is excellent. Engine is super smooth. Suspension is too nice. Breaking is also good. Pickup is good. Its heavy but weight isn't felt while riding. Overall built quality & design is excellent. CONS--The major issue is engine heat. Heat isn't noticed when bike is in motion. But when its halted we can actually feel the heat on calf & thighs. The gear shift lever is too long for mid size shoe & heal shift lever is absent. There is no place for tool kit storage. the rider footrest is large & comfortable but its much extended outward which keeps brushing & hitting the calf. The pillion seat is independent but there is no option to detach it. The company doesn't provide optional backrest for pillion rider as accessories. Don't know about its fuel economy & service cost & aftersales service.

Comfortable cruisers
It is one of the most comfortable cruisers that I’ve owned to date. Wonderful riding posture, Minimal or almost no vibrations at over 100kmph, A beautiful console to look at while riding, a Neat and clean paint job and most importantly! pretty dedicatedly assembled motorbike which is a delight to a rider's eye. (bhp and torque are the two totally out of syllabus subjects) the main concern that I have with Benelli is their service, I live in Guwahati, Assam and the dealer here is running an entire service station with just one mechanic and that too an amateur. The only thing they seem to know is an oil change and replacement of parts and the strangest of’em all is that you can’t purchase any parts and service on your own, not even the engine oil. My bike’s running a mileage of 20 to 22 km and they couldn’t figure out the reason why !!!! without proper after-sales service, i don’t believe any company could survive this forever-growing competitive market of motorbikes no matter how good is the product.

4.2For me it was love
For me it was love at first sight. I saw the ad on Facebook and fell for it. I was eagerly waiting for the price to be announced and booked the red one the same day. After more than three months' of waiting I got my hands on the bike on 6th of February. The first thing that struck me during the test-ride was the refinement and absolute quality. The engine offers quite powerful performance and urges you to twist the grip further. Ride quality is excellent. The bike is more suited for long highway rides but it handles quite well in city traffic, except for the slightly large turning radius. The retro looks are simply amazing. I am still in the process of running-in the engine, so I can only say that mileage is in excess of 30 kmpl. The exhaust has a muted roar that is so thrilling both on the highways as well as the city roads. Engine heat is a real problem and I hope it will reduce after the running-in period. 06/03/2020:I got back the bike after the first free service at 1000 kms and the service charge was a mere Rs. 1365. I need to go for a ride and check whether the engine heat has been reduced. I was told by the Service manager that it will come down since the engine oil has been changed from the normal to a synthetic one.

3.8Benelli imperiale
Benelli imperiale is a bike guys will love, It just makes people head turn for sure. The best part is it has no vibrations, Yes its heavy bike, With the distribution of weight you will never feel it.The road presence, Engine refinement, Build quality, Ruggedness suspension, Retro look is all a plus point.Turning radius is very less, Uturn will be challenging.Heat issues in traffic jams is evident else where not a problem at all.Rear tyre and tube is not available in market size is 130 80/18.Coming to the 0 star moment : they have an awesome product but service and parts cost, Will sink this product to the bottom.Exhorbiant service cost and parts cost will make you bleed.A simple example clutch cable and installation will cost 800 where as the same product same spec of himalayan will cost 300.Lack of service centers and inexperienced mechanics.Cost of replacement, Availability of parts to name a few are drawbacks.Guys at adishwars auto, Work on service and availability of spare parts at economical price that's the key for success in india.Do good marketing really not enough.

- For the availability, we would suggest you to please connect with the nearest authorized dealer in your city as it depends on their stock book. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership details.
- Selecting the right bike would depend on certain factors such as your budget, preference of the segment, performance figures, features required, etc. The 2021 Classic 350 is an all-new bike! Everything from the motor and frame to the underpinnings and ergonomics has been reworked. Coming to the bike’s hardware, the new Classic uses a new fatter 41mm telescopic fork up front and a twin shock setup at the rear. Even the brakes have been updated to Bybre units at both ends which clamp on to a 300mm front and a 270mm rear disc brake. Moving onto the ergonomics, the Classic 350 features a new rider and pillion seat with thicker cushioning which improves ride comfort. The handlebar sits taller, offering an upright riding posture. Coming to the styling, the bike looks pretty similar to the outgoing model, however, it's been cleverly redesigned. On the other hand, the Benelli Imperiale 400 is a wholesome package that offers a vibe-free motor full of character. Its comfortable riding posture and well-balanced suspension setup add to its riding experience. Having said that, the recent price hike due to the BS6 update has made the Imperiale 400 a rather expensive proposition. Whereas, the Jawa uses a short-stroke, performance-oriented engine with a 6-speed transmission. Sure it’s fast, but it lacks the retro laidback charm of an under the square engine, something we think is crucial for a buyer in this segment. The 293cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine generates 26.51PS of power and 27.05Nm of torque on the Jawa. Moreover, we would suggest you take a test ride before making the final decision. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership details.
- For that, we'd suggest you please visit the nearest authorized service center as they would be able to assist you better. Follow the link and select your city accordingly for service centers.
- You can get it from showroom
- You may opt for alloy wheels for your Benelli Imperiale 400, however, we'd suggest you to stick with the stock spoke wheels as they best serve the purpose of touring. For more details on the same, we'd suggest you to get in touch with the nearest authorized service center as they would assist you with details. You may click on the link and select your desired city for service centers.
- I don’t think there is anyone in India who provides alloy wheels for Imperiale. Also, needless to say Benelli will never provide it. So I don’t think we have option here to choose and we have to stick to spoke wheels only.
- If I retain the spoke wheels do we have any other ways to face the challenges coming with using a spoke wheel for touring
- No, there is no option for tubeless tyres or alloy wheels for Imperial 400 from the brand side. The Classic 350 has tremendous emotional appeal and is still in some ways a very desirable motorcycle. But the fact of the matter is that it is now a decade old, and its capabilities feel severely limited in this company. Taking all these things into consideration, there is one clear winner here, and that is the Imperiale. It might not be the most special looking motorcycle here or the best performing, but it tugs at your heartstrings every time you ride it, you’re always planning your next ride before the current one is even finished. It is the bike you most want to be on, and for that simple reason, it is our pick of this segment. You may compare both the bikes accordingly. Do take a test ride for better clarity. Check out authorised dealership details.
- Cannot compare imperialle 400 with classic 350..... Imperialle is a class part.
- Yes
- Installing a kick start would not be a feasible idea and the company is not offering any such option as well. Also, it would be a challenging task to install a kick start in the aftermarket. The Imperiale 400 is powered by a BS6-compliant 374cc air-cooled and fuel-injected single-cylinder engine that generates 21PS and 29Nm. In our tests, the Imperiale 400 delivered 33.49kmpl in the city and 36.65kmpl on highways. As for the maintenance, the availability of parts would depend on the availability of service centers in your city. We would suggest you to get in touch with the nearest authorized dealership for more details. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride before making the final decision. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership details.
