The Yamaha Fascino 125 is the Japanese marque’s retro style 125cc scooter and at 99kg, it is one of the segment's lightest scooters and features mild-hybrid tech as well.

Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid Key Highlights

Price: The Yamaha Fascino 125 FI Hybrid is available in two variants: drum and disc. The drum variant with Vivid Red, Cyan Blue, Yellow Cocktail, Silver, Matte Copper, and Metallic White shades costs Rs 79,900 whereas Cool Blue Metallic and Dark Matte Blue are available at Rs 80,900. The Metallic Black colour is priced at Rs 79,150. The disc variant starts at Rs 91,430 for Vivid Red, Yellow Cocktail, Cyan Blue, Silver, Matte Copper, and Metallic White colours. The Cool Blue Metallic and Dark Matte Blue colours are available at Rs 92,430 while the Fascino S with the Vivid Red - SPL and Matte Black - SPL colour options cost Rs 94,030 and the Dark Matte Blue - SPL is priced at Rs 94,830 (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).

Design: The design of the Yamaha Fascino 125 is similar to its 110cc sibling. The curvaceous panels look bigger in the Fascino 125 FI and the tail section looks noticeably longer. Yamaha has also pulled the handlebar closer to the rider by 18mm and it is 20mm higher as well. This should ensure comfortable ergonomics. The stubby exhaust shape is neatly masked by the curvy exhaust heat shield, which goes well with the overall theme of the scooter.

Features: The Yamaha Fascino 125 FI comes with a Smart Motor Generator System, essentially a silent starter. It also comes with a Stop & Start system which automatically turns off the engine when idling in traffic for a while. The motor cranks up again as soon as the throttle is applied. Yamaha has introduced the Fascino 125 Hybrid for 2021 which features an LED headlight, LED tail light and a full digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity. Other than this, it also gets a side stand cut-off switch, 21-litre underseat storage and an optional USB charger. The Fascino S gets the manufacturer’s ‘Answer Back’ feature, which activates the left and right turn indicators along with the horn when the answer back button is pressed on the ‘Yamaha Scooter Answer Back’ app, thereby helping the rider locate the scooter easily.

Engine: Yamaha has equipped the Fascino with a hybrid engine which works in tandem with a battery to help extract 16 percent more mileage while producing 30 percent more torque (compared to the 113cc Fascino). As a result, its torque output has risen from 9.7Nm to 10.3Nm. Its power, though, remains the same as before, at 8.2PS. It continues to use its silent start and start-stop system.

Suspension, Brakes & Other Details: The Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid uses the same hardware as before -- a telescopic front fork and a single shock absorber at the rear. For braking, the Fascino uses a 190mm disc up front or a drum unit, along with a drum at the rear, with CBS as standard. The 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels are wrapped with 90-section front and 110-section rear tubeless tyres respectively. Interestingly, the scooter tips the scales at 99kg kerb, making it the lightest 125cc scooter on sale in India.

Rivals: The Yamaha Fascino 125 FI rivals the Hero Destini 125, TVS Jupiter, Honda Activa 125 and the best-selling scooter in its segment, the Suzuki Access 125.
