Vespa VXL 125

Vespa with the VXL 125 tries to bring back the Italian elegance that the brand’s scooters did in the past. In this pursuit the new scooter comes with a design that is reminiscent of the Vespas that were popular in India many years ago. But the question remains, does the scooter have more than just good looks? 

Design:

The Vespa VXL 125 gets a design that can be described as classic and timeless. It also showcases Vespa’s rich heritage of manufacturing scooters. The headlamp is round and the scooter gets chrome elements all over. The fit and finish as well as the bright colours are also quite good making the scooter an attention grabber.

Engine, Performance & Mileage:

Powering the Vespa VXL 125 is a 124.5cc air-cooled, single cylinder, fuel-injected 3-valve SOHC engine producing 9.92PS at 7500rpm and 9.60Nm at 5500rpm. The engine is very refined and is able to offer consistent smooth performance making it perfect for city travel. The power figures are adequate but the scooter isn’t one that likes high speeds. The focus is more towards a stylish and attention-catching riding experience.

Handling & Ride Quality:

The scooter is agile and can easily manoeuvre through city traffic making commuting a pleasant experience. The suspension setup is able to handle most bumps and potholes with ease and the scooter feels planted even when going through poor roads. The brakes are responsive and bring the scooter to a stop with ease and the rider doesn’t have to give too much input to bring the scooter to a halt quickly.

Comfort:

The seat used on the VXL 125 is quite comfortable. It is able to strike a balance of being neither too hard nor too soft. The seating position is one that gives the rider a comfortable riding posture and minismises fatigue during longer rides and even in short commutes through the city traffic.  

Features:

Features wise, the Vespa VXL 125 isn’t really the best in class. The digital instrument cluster provides essential information like speed, fuel level and other read out at a glance. The instrument cluster is also able to provide good visibility in harsh sunlight.

The VLX doesn’t go over the top with features, it comes with a simple digital instrument cluster that gives information like speed, fuel level along with trip metres and other readouts. Other than that the scooter comes with a spacious underseat storage compartment with a lamp along with a USB charging port in the front.

Should You Buy the Vespa VXL 125?

Buying the Vespa VXL 125 depends on what you are looking for in a scooter. If you want a a premium scooter with a classic design that is able to give good performance, comfortable riding experience, then the VLX 125 is perfect for you but otherwise there are many alternatives to choose from like the Suzuki Access 125, Honda Activa 125, Hero Maestro Edge 125, Yamaha Fascino and the TVS NTorq 125.
