TVS X Overview
The TVS X electric scooter is priced at Rs 2,49,990 (ex-showroom Bengaluru). EMPS 2024 subsidy, which stands for Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme 2024, not applicable. It is the costliest e-scooter in India, and TVS has confirmed that the deliveries will start in May 2024.
TVS X is the Hosur-based bikemaker’s flagship electric scooter. It is by far the most unique-looking electric scooter in our market, and is also the first electric scooter to come with ABS.
TVS X Key Highlights
Design: The TVS X boasts a sleek and aerodynamic design, embodying "lean-mean-clean" aesthetics. Its form follows function, resulting in a unique silhouette that is unlike any other scooter in the Indian market. Also, the exposed sub-frame and a single-sided swingarm along with the split-seat setup make the e-scooter’s rear almost look motorcycle-like.
Features: The TVS X offers an array of connected tech features. Its 10.2-inch TFT touchscreen provides deep customization options and is tilt-adjustable for optimal visibility. TVS NavPro navigation system (TVS-speak for a full-fledged navigation system) with the TVS SmartXonnect platform brings context-aware information to the rider, including EV-specific routing algorithms that anticipate charging stations. The console comes with several widgets, themes, video playback and even games. Safety is enhanced with TVS Smart Xhield, offering crash alerts, dedicated assistance, among others. The e-scooter gets a decent 19-litre underseat storage with a split seat setup.
Motor: The ‘TVS Xleton’ platform features a cast aluminum alloy twin-spar frame that is claimed to enhance stiffness and durability. Notably, it features a segment-first ram air -cooled motor for passive cooling, thus enhancing sustained performance. The TVS Xleton frame claims to deliver over 2x torsional stiffness and over 4x vertical stiffness compared to standard underbone frames, providing better agility and steering precision. The battery is placed between the spars, keeping the centre of gravity as low as possible. The TVS X is powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) with an in-house controller. It makes a peak power of 11 kW and a rated power of 7 kW. It achieves a claimed acceleration from 0-40 kmph in 2.6 seconds and sustains a maximum top speed of 105 kmph. The three riding modes "Xtealth”, “Xtride” and "Xonic" are complemented by multi-level regen modes. The e-scooter uses a telescopic fork, rear offset monoshock, a 220mm petal front disc, and a 195mm rear unit with single-channel ABS. The 12-inch wheels are wrapped with specially developed tyre compounds to further improve grip and reduce rolling resistance.
Rivals: The TVS X is the most expensive electric scooter in the Indian market, with no direct rivals in its segment. However, if you’re looking for a performance-packed electric scooter, the Ather 450X and the Ola S1 Pro come pretty close.
Range: The TVS X is equipped with a 4.44kWh battery pack with an in-house Battery Management System (BMS). It offers a claimed IDC (Indian Driving Conditions) range of 140km.
Charging Time: Charging options include a 3kW Smart X Home rapid charger (0-50% in 50 minutes) and a 950W portable charger (0-80% in 4 hours 30 minutes). The 950W charger costs around Rs 16,000 whereas the faster 3kW unit costs around Rs 26,000.
Variants: The TVS X electric scooter comes in a single variant, in Hellkat Red colour scheme.
