Highlights include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, a heads-up display, steering-mounted controls, wireless phone charging, cruise control and a 360-degree camera (on higher variants). However, it lacks a sunroof and ventilated seats, which might be important to some buyers.

Is the Toyota Taisor a spacious car?

The Taisor can seat five adults with ample legroom and kneeroom, though headroom can be a bit tight for anyone over 6 feet tall. All three rear passengers get adjustable headrests and three-point seatbelts, which is definitely a plus. However, there's no rear centre armrest, which could be a good or bad thing depending on how often you have a middle passenger. The boot space, at 308 litres, is smaller compared to other cars in the segment and might require some creative packing for heavy luggage.

What engines and transmissions does the Taisor offer?

The Taisor borrows the Fronx's engine options:

• 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol (90PS/113Nm) with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. This powertrain combination is available with the E, S and S+ variants.

• 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (100PS/148Nm) with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. This powertrain combination is offered with the G and V variants only.

• 1.2-litre petrol-CNG option (77PS/98.5nm) with a 5-speed manual (offered only in the base E variant).

What mileage can I expect from the Toyota Taisor?

The claimed fuel efficiency varies depending on the engine and transmission you choose.

• Most fuel efficient: 1.2-litre petrol-CNG (MT) with 28.5 km/kg

If you are confused between the Taisor and Fronx, the price difference in their lower variants is just 20-25k, so the choice boils down to what design you like, personal brand preference and how conveniently located the service centre is. The Taisor also offers better warranty coverage of 3-years/1 lakh km and complimentary RSA (roadside assistance) for 5 years compared to the Fronx’s 2-year/ 40,000km warranty.

The Taisor makes for a practical buy for those who want a spacious, feature-rich interior with comfortable seating, and an enjoyable driving experience. It offers good fuel efficiency, performs well on highways with the 1-litre turbo-petrol variants and is easy to manoeuver in city traffic.
