With the launch of the Grazia 125 BS6 yesterday, Honda has finished updating its entire 125cc portfolio to meet the latest emission norms. The lineup consists of two motorcycles and two scooters, so what sets the two scooters apart?
The scooters in question are the ultra-refined and feature-rich Activa 125 and the equally feature-rich and extremely stylish Grazia. In addition to looking different, the latter is also a bit more expensive, so we’re going to see why that is.

The same air-cooled, fuel-injected 124cc single-cylinder motor powers both scooters, but with some slight differences. The state of tune seems to be altered a little because the Activa makes a tad more peak power but does so a bit higher in the rev range. Torque output is identical between both scooters.
Style Quotient
The Activa 125, with its regal and dignified design, will appeal to a more mature audience. It’s also splattered with a healthy dose of chrome, which Indian buyers will surely appreciate. The Grazia, on the other hand, sports a much sharper, meaner and more modern appearance. Its chiselled body panels and aggressive headlight design should help it win younger hearts.

Feature Face-off
Both scooters are extremely feature-rich and pack the most bells and whistles in this segment. Common items include a silent ACG starter system, idling stop-start system, side-stand engine cut-off and external fuel-filler. However, the Grazia goes the extra mile by packing in fully digital instrumentation, while the Activa has to make do with a semi-digital design.

Under the surface, both scooters are extremely similar. They’re both held together by an underbone frame suspended on a conventional telescopic fork and 3-step preload-adjustable monoshock. Wheels, tyres and brake options are quite similar too, but the Activa gets three variants to the Grazia’s two, with the latter missing out on a drum brake alloy wheel option. The Grazia’s 3kg kerb weight advantage is down to the fact that it’s clothed in fibre panels compared to the Activa’s all-metal body.

Variant-for-variant, the Grazia is a little under Rs 6,000 more expensive than the Activa. Most of this is down to the more advanced instrumentation on the Grazia, though some of it can also be attributed to the complex body panels that are possibly more expensive to manufacture.
