Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR Quick Highlights

Kawasaki India recently launched the Ninja ZX-4RR in India at an eye-watering price of Rs 9.10 lakh (ex-showroom, India), since it comes in as a CBU (completely built unit). The supersport has now started reaching the brand’s dealerships across India, so expect deliveries to commence soon. Kawasaki India currently has 49 dealers across the country. We reckon not all of them will have the ZX-4RR in stock considering there would be only a limited number of units allocated for India. The ZX-4RR is a bike that Kawasaki intends to sell to just a handful of enthusiasts, not the masses.

While its price tag might not be a lot of money for many enthusiasts with deep pockets, the ZX-4RR is not really a value-for-money bike for every motorcyclist, considering the more powerful Z900 costs just Rs 28,000 more. That said, with the price tag aside for a moment, this ZX has all the makings to be a dream poster bike, especially for those who grew in in the ‘80s and the ‘90s, drooling over the Japanese sub-500cc inline four supersports. 

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR Engine & Performance

With the engine configuration and output, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR is the most powerful 400cc bike in India.

To help the rider harness the full potential of the engine, Kawasaki has equipped the ZX-4RR with four riding modes, traction control and a bi-directional quickshifter as standard.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR Suspension, Brakes & Other Details

The Ninja ZX-4RR has a Showa Big Piston inverted fork with preload adjustability and a monoshock with adjustable compression, rebound and preload. It has 290mm dual front discs with radially-mounted calipers and a 220mm rear disc. 

There are 17-inch wheels on both ends with a chunky 120-section front tyre and a 160-section rear. This Ninja has a 15-litre fuel tank, 800mm seat height, and a rather low 135mm ground clearance since it's a track-focussed bike.

Kawasaki has extracted every ounce of performance from the 400cc engine in the ZX-4R range, all the while keeping them road-legal. This makes them unique bikes in the 400cc space, with no rivals worth mentioning.

That said, for a couple lakh rupees more, at Rs 11,20,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), you can get the ZX-6R which makes a lot of sense for the price it commands. Especially to learn the nuances of track-riding, as well as daily rideability. All said and done, we are just glad Kawasaki offers these bikes in India for enthusiasts.
