BREAKING: Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono Launched In India At Rs 16.50 Lakh

Ducati has launched the Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono in India at Rs 16.50 Lakh (ex-showroom) and deliveries will start by end of July 2024. It is available in the standard variant that gets the Ducati Red colour option and will arrive in India as CBUs (Completely Built Units). The RVE variant is set to arrive by the end of the year. Interestingly, 698 Mono is Rs 49,500 more expensive than the Ducati Hypermotard 950 RVE!

The Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono gets the quintessential supermoto styling and looks similar to its bigger brother, the Ducati Hypermotard 950. It is powered by the world’s most powerful single-cylinder engine on a production motorcycle, the Superquadro Mono, which is also Ducati's first single-cylinder engine in 30 years. The 659cc, liquid-cooled motor produces 77.5PS at 9750rpm and 63Nm at 8000rpm and it redlines at 10,250rpm! It has a bore and stroke of 116 x 62.4mm and a compression ratio of 13.1:1 with Desmodromic valve timing. The Superquadro Mono is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch while the bi-directional quickshifter is available as an optional feature.

The supermoto gets a tubular steel trellis frame and an aluminium swingarm. The suspension setup consists of a 45mm Marzocchi fully-adjustable inverted fork and a fully-adjustable Sachs monoshock. Stopping the motorcycle is a braking setup consisting of a 330mm front disc with a Brembo M4.32 caliper and a 245mm rear disc with a single piston floating caliper and four-level Bosch Cornering ABS as standard. It gets 17-inch wheels at both ends with 5-spoke Y-shaped alloy wheels and Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres. And the motorcycle is very light, as it weighs just 151kg (wet weight without fuel), perfect for some hooligan fun. The seat height stands at 904mm and the fuel tank capacity is 12 litres.

In terms of features, it comes equipped with a 3.8-inch LCD instrument console. There are three power modes available: High, Medium and Low and it also gets four ride modes: Sport, Road, Urban and Wet. Other fancy features include traction control, four-level wheelie control, Engine Brake Control, and Ducati Power Launch. 

Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono Cornering

The Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono doesn’t have any rivals in India. Regarding service intervals, Ducati is offering an oil change after every 15,000km and a valve clearance check every 30,000km for the bike. 

The Hypermotard 698 Mono, despite being a single-cylinder, comparatively smaller bike by Ducati, costs more than the bigger twin-cylinder bikes like the Ducati Multistrada V2, Monster SP and Hypermotard 950. This is because the Hypermotard 698 comes as a CBU via Italy and Thailand, but because it is less than 800cc, it does not qualify for the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Thailand.
