Jeep India is all set to launch the Meridian three-row SUV tomorrow on May 19. Pre-launch bookings are underway, and the Meridian will be offered in two trims: Limited and Limited (O). Vehicles have already started reaching dealerships, and the SUV’s deliveries are likely to commence in July.
If you had your eyes on one, here are five things you need to know before you sign the dotted line.
The Jeep Meridian might be a Compass derivative, but looks nothing like it. Jeep’s trademark 7-slat grille dominates the fascia, flanked by a sleek pair of LED headlights. In profile, the upright stance and squared wheel arches give it a butch SUV-like stance, while the large 18-inch alloy wheels look sporty. Connected LED tail lamps round off the design.
The Meridian will be offered in five body colours: Pearl White, Velvet Red, Grigio Magnesio, Brilliant Black, and Techno Green.
Inside, the Meridian dashboard seems familiar as it has been lifted off from the Compass, albeit in a black/brown colour scheme. Not a bad thing in our opinion as the dashboard oozes an air of quality and premiumness. The highlight is the availability of an extra row of seats, which is best for kids or short adults for small journeys.

In terms of features, the Meridian will get a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, an Alpine sound system, powered tailgate, powered front seats with ventilation, cruise control, auto headlamps and wipers, and keyless entry with push button start.
Passenger safety is taken care of by six airbags, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and tyre pressure monitoring system.
It gets only one engine, and that’s the familiar 170PS 2-litre diesel one, paired with a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, while the automatic can be teamed with an optional all-wheel drive.
The Meridian will be locally assembled at Jeep’s Ranjangaon facility and is expected to be priced from Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). It will lock horns with the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, and MG Gloster.
