FOUR PEOPLE KILLED AND THREE OTHERS INJURED AFTER A COLD BLOODED SHOOTING IN BOONE COUNTY. WE ALSO NOW KNOW THE SHOOTER IS DEAD AFTER TURNING THE GUN ON HIMSELF TONIGHT. WHERE THIS TRAGEDY TOOK PLACE. IT ALL HAPPENED AT A HOME ON RIDGECREST DRIVE. AND NEWS FIVE’S DAISY KERSHAW ALSO LIVE FROM THE SCENE. SHE’S BEEN TALKING TO NEIGHBORS. BUT FIRST, LET’S GO TO LINDSAY STONE. LINDSAY, WE’RE LEARNING MORE DISTURBING DETAILS FROM POLICE AS THIS INVESTIGATION INTO THIS TRAGEDY UNFOLDS. WHAT DO WE KNOW TONIGHT? WELL, CURTIS, WE KNOW THAT FLORENCE POLICE OFFICERS BEGAN RECEIVING 911 CALLS OF AN ACTIVE SHOOTER INSIDE THIS RESIDENCE HERE BEHIND ME. THOSE CALLS COMING IN JUST BEFORE 3 A.M. POLICE SAID THAT A BIRTHDAY PARTY WAS GOING ON AT THE TIME. AS WE ZOOM IN HERE, YOU CAN SEE THERE’S BEEN SOME 4TH OF JULY DECORATIONS. EARLIER, WE SAW SOME BALLOONS FOR A BIRTHDAY PARTY, AND NOW THIS ENTIRE HOME IS JUST COVERED WITH CRIME TAPE. AS WE ZOOM IN AND TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT THAT FRONT DOOR, YOU CAN SEE THAT GLASS DOOR IS COMPLETELY OFF THE HINGES. THIS HOME NOW, A CRIME SCENE. NOW, OFFICERS FOUND SEVEN PEOPLE WITH GUNSHOT WOUNDS, INCLUDING TWO PEOPLE OUTSIDE THE HOME. FOUR WERE FOUND DEAD AT THE SCENE, INCLUDING 20 YEAR OLD SHANE MILLER, 20 YEAR OLD HAYDEN REBIK, 19 YEAR OLD DELANEY ERIE AND 44 YEAR OLD MELISSA PERRY. NOW, WE’RE TOLD PARROT LIVED IN THIS HOME. SHE’S THE MOTHER OF THE 21 YEAR OLD WHOSE BIRTHDAY WAS BEING CELEBRATED. THE THREE OTHERS SHOT REMAINED HOSPITALIZED TONIGHT. OFFICERS, UM, RENDERED FIRST AID TO SEVERAL VICTIMS AND RIGHT NOW WE HAVE THREE VICTIMS AT UC MEDICAL IN CINCINNATI THAT ARE ALL STABLE AND WILL, UH, MAKE A FULL RECOVERY. PEOPLE AROUND HERE. NOW, POLICE SAY WHEN THEY ARRIVED HERE ON THE SCENE, THAT SUSPECT WAS STILL FIRING SHOTS. AND THEY ACTUALLY WATCHED HIM TAKE OFF. AND WE NOW KNOW A CHASE ENSUED. TONIGHT WE ARE LEARNING NEW DETAILS ABOUT WHO THAT SUSPECT IS AND THE DRAMATIC MOMENTS AFTER POLICE ARRIVED HERE ON THE SCENE. I’LL BRING IN WLWT NEWS FIVE’S DAISY KERSHAW. POLICE SAY AFTER KILLING FOUR PEOPLE AND INJURING THREE OTHERS, GARVEY TOOK OFF, LEADING THEM ON A CHASE BEFORE ULTIMATELY TURNING THE GUN ON HIMSELF. POLICE SAYING THAT GARVEY DIED OF A SELF-INFLICTED GUNSHOT WOUND. NOW TAKE A LOOK AT THIS VIDEO HERE SHARED WITH US BY A NEIGHBOR. YOU CAN SEE GARVEY LOOKING AROUND PEOPLE’S YARDS JUST MINUTES BEFORE THE SHOOTING HAPPENS. NEIGHBORS TELL ME THIS IS A QUIET, TIGHT KNIT NEIGHBORHOOD. THIS TRAGEDY COMING AS A SHOCK. LOTS OF HEARTBREAK HERE TONIGHT, I’M TOLD. SO MANY IN THE AREA WERE CLOSE WITH ONE OF THE VICTIMS, MELISSA PARROTT, WHO WAS HOSTING THE PARTY A FATHER AND DAUGHTER WHO LIVED NEXT DOOR, TOLD ME THEY’D BEEN AT THAT PARTY EARLIER IN THE NIGHT BEFORE THIS. ALL UNFOLDED. WE’RE JUST LUCKY WE WERE SAFE IN THE SENSE, BUT IT DOESN’T MAKE IT ANY BETTER, FOR IT’S THIS IS AFFECTING THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD, LOSING OUR GREAT NEIGHBOR, YOU KNOW? I MEAN, SHE WAS JUST A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN, BEAUTIFUL HEART. UM, AND I MEAN THAT IN THE MOST SINCERE WAY. I MEAN, IT’S NOT JUST A CLICHE THING TO SAY. I MEAN, SHE SHE WAS A BEAUTIFUL PERSON IN AND OUT. NEIGHBORS TELL ME THAT THIS HAS BEEN JUST INCREDIBLY SHOCKING AND HEARTBREAKING. SAYING THAT MELISSA PARROTT WAS LIKE THE HEART OF THIS NEIGHBORHOOD. SO MANY HAVE FOND MEMORIES OF TIMES SPENT AT HER HOME AND HER LOSS, AS WELL AS THE THREE OTHER VICTIMS, IS JUST UNIMAGINABLE FOR FOLKS HERE. REPORTING LIVE IN FLORENCE, DAISY KERSHAW WLWT NEWS FIVE. AND IT ALSO SHOWS YOU JUST HOW CLOSE THIS HOME IS TO THE OTHER HOMES DAISY JUST TOUCHED ON. YOU KNOW, THIS IS A VERY TIGHT KNIT CLOSE KNIT NEIGHBORHOOD. Four people are dead and three others were hospitalized after a mass shooting overnight at a home in northern Kentucky. The suspected shooter also died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his car afterwards, bringing the total death toll in connection with the incident to five. The suspected shooter has since been identified by police as Chase Garvey, 21, from Florence.Florence police say officers responded to a home on Ridgecrest Drive in Florence, Kentucky, at 2:51 a.m. early Saturday morning after receiving several calls for reports of an active shooter inside the residence. When they arrived, police said they still heard shots being fired. When they got inside the residence, officers said they found seven people suffering from gunshot wounds, four of which were pronounced dead on the scene.Police said that a birthday party was currently going on at the residence of Melissa Parrett, 44, who was throwing the party for her 21 year old son. Parrett was identified as one of the victims who was killed in the shooting.The other victims have been identified as:Shane Miller, 20, from Florencem KyHayden Rybicki, 20, from Elsmere, KyDelaney Eary, 19. Burlington, KyThe other three victims were transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Their conditions are currently listed as critical but stable.Police said that Garvey had fled the scene by motor vehicle by the time officers had arrived.Officers said they quickly located the suspect fleeing near Farmview Drive and US 42 and attempted to pull him over, leading to a pursuit.The pursuit ended on Dale Heimbrock Way near Hicks Pike after the suspect vehicle drove off the road and into a ditch.Officers say they found Garvey had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.Police said that their preliminary investigation indicates that Garvey was not an attendee of the party, and is believed by police to have come to the house with the sole intent of committing a violent attack on the house's residents.According to court records, Garvey has two prior felony convictions in Kentucky for rape in the 1st degree and sodomy in the 2nd degree, both dating back to 2021. Police confirmed Garvey's criminal record in their press conference.Florence Police Chief Jeff Mallery appeared emotional throughout the duration of Saturday's press conference."We've never dealt with this before. We know it's going on throughout the nation, but this is the first time that we've had a mass shooting in Florence," he said while addressing media.Mallery also said that officers had shown up earlier in the night to the house for a loud noise complaint that was unrelated to the shooting.The Florence Police Department's investigative and crime scene units responded to the scene to investigate.Police said there is currently no ongoing threat to the public, saying the suspect acted alone.
