A safety gate’s key task is to prevent a toddler or young child going somewhere they shouldn’t. In most cases, it’s to stop a toddler going up or down a flight of stairs that they could, if not monitored, fall down, or into a room where they could seriously hurt themselves.
The sample of this stair gate we tested failed a key safety test that checks whether a gate is strong enough to withstand repeated pushing and pulling over an extended period of time. It became dislodged and could mean a child’s safety is at risk, which is why we’ve made it a Don’t Buy.
BabyDan told us:
‘At BabyDan we take feedback about our safety products seriously, as safety of children is paramount to us. We manufacture to the highest possible standards. All our safety gates comply to the relevant safety standards (in this case EN1930:2011).
‘The safety gates mentioned in your publication have been tested recently by accredited labs numerous times without any remarks.’
