In previous years, we've seen discounted phones that are no longer supported with important security updates, or have scored poorly in our performance tests. Buying these is a waste of money. We have only included deals on phones where we saw something we liked in our lab tests and when they are offered at a genuinely good discount. But you'll need to read our reviews to see how well they scored and if any scooped a Best Buy recommendation.

With the iPhone 16 now available, you'll find a wide range of contract deals for the new handsets in all shapes and sizes. While it's unlikely we'll see discounts on the handsets Sim-free for a while, you can check all the current prices and work out which contracts are best value in our guide to the best iPhone 16 deals.
iPhones are typically expensive and it's unusual to see significant discounts on the newest models soon after launch. The good news is you can make savings with predecessors, many of which have plenty of life left – thanks to Apple's long support periods. Check below to see how much you could save on an iPhone 15 or earlier.
Even though the iPhone 16 series has been released, the iPhone 15 prices haven't dropped. However, for a good few months, the devices have been cheaper than their launch prices (by £100 or so). Some retailers also have special offers on extras if you buy an iPhone 15 from them – such as free Sim cards or access to Apple TV+.
However, the iPhone 15 has relatively minor upgrades over the iPhone 14 so, if you're after a better discount, the smart money is on a slightly older model.

We like: Enhanced camera modes
We don’t like: No major upgrades from the iPhone 14
Typical series enhancements on this phone include a brighter display and thinner bezels in comparison to the previous iPhone 14. This was the first iPhone to receive a USB-C port to replace the Apple Lightning connection, so any USB-C charger can power the device.
Inside is a high-spec processor and 3,349 mAh battery. The camera software benefits from an upgraded night mode and more editing options.

We like: Camera upgrades
We don’t like: No Dynamic Island notch on the display
The Apple iPhone 14 from 2022 has dropped in price at a number of retailers. It's the standard model in the 14 range, and the cheapest, but it has a number of premium perks. The processor, named the A15 Bionic chip, is the same as in the iPhone 13, but it received an upgraded five-core GPU and 6GB of memory. The front-facing camera has powerful autofocus, making it smarter at focusing in pictures.
It comes in five different colours, and with 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of memory. Cinematic mode records in 4K, but the cameras aren't as advanced as on the iPhone 14 Pro.
To find out if it lives up to expectations, check out our iPhone 14 review. Check contract deals and prices from retailers below.

If you're after a bigger screen, consider the iPhone 14 Plus. It has all the same specs as the iPhone 14 but with a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED screen and a larger battery.

The iPhone Pro models are where you'll find Apple's most advanced cameras, with a 48Mp LiDAR sensor and a 12Mp telephoto camera for clearer zoomed-in shots. The iPhone 14 Pro is the main phone in the range with a 6.1-inch display and the pill-shaped Dynamic Island camera notch. Apple has taken advantage of the extra space given by this notch on the screen for alerts and notifications. It has Apple's A16 Bionic Chip, which is the same processor used in the most recent iPhone 15 and 15 Plus.

Released in 2020, this iPhone runs off Apple’s own A14 Bionic processor, with 4GB of Ram. You get 64GB of storage (of which 48GB is usable), but this can’t be extended as there’s no slot for a memory card. It has two rear cameras, a 12Mp wide and 12Mp ultra-wide lens, plus a 12Mp front camera.

The iPhone SE 2022 is worth considering if you're after a cheaper iPhone. The 2022 version is Apple's third-generation SE, and while it's currently hard to find a big discount, it's still significantly cheaper than other iPhones. It has a 4.7-inch Retina HD screen, a single rear camera lens that can film in 4K, and the same processor as the iPhone 13.

We'd be surprised. Apple iPhones rarely see flash sales and the deals weren't that special during the last Black Friday. Apple offered gift cards with purchases, and retailers usually offered either small discounts (say, £50) or extras for buying from them, such as discounted subscriptions and freebies.

Sign upBefore buying an iPhone, consider looking at the second-hand and refurbished market, as this is often where the best savings can be found. iPhones dominate this market, which means prices are competitive.
When buying second-hand, double-check the phone is still supported with security updates. If it's no longer supported, your phone is at risk of hackers exploiting vulnerabilities in its software. Some second-hand retailers, such as MusicMagpie, will warn you in the specifications if a phone no longer has security support – but many won't. Use the Which? phone support calculator to find out how long you can expect to get support.
Second-hand phones are sold with a grade according to condition. Our research shows a grade B (or equivalent 'good') will generally get you the best deal, balancing price with the quality of features.

Since the release of the iPhone 15 in September 2023, the iPhone 13 series from 2021 is seeing some major discounts in the second-hand market. It doesn't have the advanced cameras of the iPhone 13 Pro, but it doesn't scrimp on specs: you'll get Apple's A15 Bionic Chip, a striking display and the sought-after cinematic camera mode. We expect Apple to support it with regular security updates until at least January 2027.
We've seen it on sale for around £315 in 'good' second-hand condition at MusicMagpie. Find out the full story in our Apple iPhone 13 review.
