A new sofa is a big investment, so finding a good deal can save you a lot of money.
As well as picking the right sofa for your space, you'll also want to get a great deal on the most comfortable, highest-quality and longest-wearing sofa you can afford.
That's why, every year, we scour the Black Friday sofa sales to bring you this round-up of the best sofa deals.
For more tips to help you shop smart in the sales, take a look at our Black Friday 2024 advice.
We’ve already found your favourite sofa brands on the market. In our July 2023 survey of sofa brands, we asked over 4,000 of our members to rate their sofas on factors including comfort, durability and quality.
All the sales we recommend here are from brands that did reasonably well in our survey, but you'll have to visit our best sofa shops page to find out which ones came out top.
Note: Percentage discounts and ‘before’ prices stated are according to the brands.

We like: John Lewis has partnered with Clearabee to help you recycle your old sofa
We don’t like: Limited range of leather sofas available
John Lewis is offering between 15 and 20% off a range of 14 different sofa styles (all of which come in different sizes; most include recliners and chairs).
Some of these ranges are available for delivery before Christmas.
There is a huge range of sofas available, but most are fabric sofas - so you might end up needing to look elsewhere if you want a leather option.
Prices start at around £200 for accent chairs and and £700 for a two-seater sofa.
To find out how John Lewis and other popular brands did in our survey of sofa owners, see our guide to the best sofa shops.
Sale dates: 28 October - 1 December or while stocks last
We like: Very low prices, including on large sofas
We don’t like: Only very similar styles of sofa on offer
Ikea is offering 15% off selected ranges of sofas until 1 December.
Its prices are some of the cheapest we have seen - you can pick up a three-seater sofa for £500.
They have a lot of types of sofas on offer - including chairs, modular sofas, and recliners - but the styles are all very similar. Ikea makes minimal, Scandi-style sofas, and only has one style of leather sofa available in the sale.
However, this is a perfect sale if you are looking for a big, budget sofa. Some of these ranges are available for delivery before Christmas.
Sale dates: Until 10 December
We like: Some ranges will be delivered before Christmas
We don’t like: Limited discounts offered
Sofology is running an end-of-season sale on some of its sofa ranges - these sofas are being discontinued.
There is a fairly wide range of sofas on offer, running from chairs to large corner sofas. In addition, some of these ranges will be delivered in time for Christmas.
Discounts range from £50 - £200. You can pick up a four-seater sofa for £1,000.

Sale dates: Until 25 November
We like: Discounts on premium quality sofas, including new ranges
We don’t like: Still premium prices
Smiths of Harrogate is offering 20% off Ercol sofas as part of its Autumn Savings event.
Prices start from around £1,000 for a chair and £1,500 for a two seater sofa.
Ercol makes minimalist style sofas in both fabric and leather. If you are looking for an investment piece, this is worth checking out.
Sale dates: Ongoing
We like: Good savings (provided you are buying two or more items)
We don’t like: Only clic-clac sofa beds available
Next is running a sale in which you can save 10% if you buy two items from one or more of the following categories: sofa beds, sofas, chairs, beds, mattresses and rugs.
They only have clic-clac sofa beds available in this offer - these tend to be cheaper than other options, but aren't as comfortable as fold out beds. If you regularly host guests, you may want to look elsewhere.
However, if you are hoping to refresh your living room, including with a cheap, stylish sofa bed, it's worth checking out this sale. Prices are around £500 for a double sofa bed.
See our sofa bed buying guide for more advice.
You might think that the Christmas and Black Friday periods are a great time to buy a sofa, but this isn’t always the case. In fact, our analysis of 208 discounted products at eight major home and tech retailers found that only 2% of items were at their best price on Black Friday.
Check out our full report for more information.
Instead, try looking for discounts during these key sales periods:
Remember that a lot of stores will run sales for a large portion of the year, so it might be worth tracking an item you want for a few weeks – or months, if you can wait – to see what happens to the price.

The answer really depends on the brand.
In our customer survey of more than 4,000 Which? members, we found some cheaper brands that really shone, and some expensive brands that were rated poorly. Don’t just take the price or brand name as an indicator of quality.
The price also depends on the material you want, and any additional extras. You can get a great-quality fabric sofa for much cheaper than a great-quality leather sofa.
Finally, make sure that you consider the longevity of your sofa. In our survey, we found that readers with a faux leather sofa were significantly more likely to report that their sofa was damaged compared with other materials.
Buying a cheaper sofa might cost less initially, but if you want to keep it looking newer for longer (or you have kids and pets), it might be worth spending a little more.
You can read more about this investigation, and our tips for buying a durable sofa, in our guide to why you shouldn’t buy a faux leather sofa.

Sign upMost sofa shops offer a cooling-off period, during which you can return your sofa – provided you haven’t used it, and it’s still in the original packaging.
This means that if your sofa comes and you decide that you don’t like it, or it doesn’t fit in your room, you can return it.
These periods generally range between 14 and 30 days.
Check out our guide to cooling-off periods for more information.
Bear in mind that this doesn’t always apply to bespoke items or sales items (especially clearance sales), so check before you buy.
