Our pick: Bosch KGN492LDFG

* Average price in the past six months: £910. Cheapest price in the past six months: £855

Bosch KGN492LDFG

  • Freestanding
  • Frost-free freezer
  • Silver-coloured

We like: It's quiet

We don't like: Don't be swayed into buying it on account of the holiday mode: our tests of this feature on other models found it's often not worth the hassle

This silver-coloured freestanding fridge freezer has five shelves in the fridge compartment, three of which can be adjusted to accommodate a few larger items.

There are also three egg racks and four compartments in the fridge door. The freezer has three drawers and one ice-cube tray.

Settings include an economy setting and rapid cooling and freezing for when you’ve just introduced a large batch of food that needs to be chilled or frozen quickly.

We don’t like: The fridge could be easier to clean

This Bosch has good capacity, with space to fit 13 supermarket bags of food inside. The fridge has three shelves and two drawers, and below it, the freezer section has three drawers.

The doors are reversible so you can adapt the way it opens to suit your kitchen floorplan.

Features include fast freeze and super cool functions to help deal with large batches of food quickly. There are also door alarms on both the fridge and freezer that will alert you if you leave them open.

It's currently the cheapest it's ever been at a couple of retailers.

Bosch KGN39AWCTG

* Average price in the past six months: £867. Cheapest price in the past six months: £789

Bosch KGN39AWCTG

  • Freestanding

We like: The  crisper drawer reaches the right temperature

We don’t like: The digital controls aren’t as straightforward to use as they could be

This freestanding fridge freezer has enough room for 13 supermarket carrier bags of food and drink inside.

The digital controls include an Eco mode, along with fast freeze and quick chill functions that will temporarily boost the power to speed things up if you’re going to be adding a large batch of fresh groceries to the contents.

The chiller drawer is designed to be colder than the rest of the fridge and provide a better home for fresh meat and fish.

In total, we managed to fit 11 supermarket carrier bags of groceries in this model. And it's currently the cheapest it's ever been at a few retailers.

But how well does it look after your food, and will it cost a lot to run?

* Average price in the past six months: £736. Cheapest price in the past six months: £619

Bosch KGN392LDFG
  • Freestanding
  • Frost-free freezer
  • Silver finish

We like: It runs quietly

We don’t like: Others are better in a few areas

This silver fridge freezer is frost-free, so you should never have to deal with the hassle of defrosting it manually. It has a crisper drawer for fruit and vegetables and it's large enough to hold 14 bags of shopping.

Over the past six months, we've seen this model on sale for prices ranging from £645 to more than £1,000. So it's currently the cheapest it's ever been in the past six months at a couple of retailers. At a few other retailers, it's not quite as cheap as that, but still less than it typically is.

But how well does it chill and cool food, and does it use a lot of energy in the process?

Read our full Bosch KGN392LDFG review to find out.

Bosch KGN362LDFG

* Average price in the past six months: £685. Cheapest price in the past six months: £639

Bosch KGN362LDFG

  • Freestanding
  • Frost-free freezer

We like: It's not quite the cheapest it's been in the past six month, but it's not far off.

We don’t like: Some drawers have slightly rough and seemingly unfinished edges

This silver stainless steel fridge freezer has a salad crisper drawer with adjustable humidity, allowing you to tweak the settings according to whether the fruit and vegetables you’re storing prefer slightly drier or more humid conditions.

But how well does it preserve your food, and is it economical to run compared to others?

Liebherr ICBNE 5123

Liebherr ICBNE 5123 fridge freezer

We don't like: The control panel menus aren't very intuitive

This Liebherr is a smaller-sized integrated fridge freezer that’s frost-free, with doors that can be reversed to help it fit into your kitchen’s floorplan.

We were able to fit nine carrier bags of food inside and found that several of the fridge shelves and door racks can be adjusted to help you do a good job of it.

It runs very quietly so shouldn't disturb you if your kitchen table doubles up as your office desk. At Sonic Direct, it's currently at its cheapest price for six months.

American fridge freezer deals

Haier HCR5919EHMB

* Average price in the last six months: £1,235. Cheapest price in the past six months: £899

Haier HCR5919EHMB
  • American
  • Frost-free freezer
  • Black

We like: The accurate thermostat controls

We don't like: The fridge could be easier to clean

A word of warning: American models tend to be more expensive and incur higher running costs than freestanding models. So only consider an American style model if you have the budget and need the capacity: it's not really a good deal unless you already wanted one. If you were already looking for an American model, this Haier is good value.

It has plenty of storage space and a chilled water dispenser – which, crucially, needs to be plumbed in.

It's currently the cheapest it has ever been in the past six months.

Will there be any good Black Friday fridge freezer deals this year?

Lots of Black Friday deals are being advertised, but only a handful are genuine bargains. The deals above are the only really exciting ones we've seen.

The cost-of-living crisis has hit the large domestic appliance market pretty hard, as lots of us are prioritising buying new ones only when our old ones are broken and truly need replacing.  That may incentivise retailers to offer discounts on models they need to shift.

We'll continue to keep a sharp eye on what's available. So you can be sure that the models recommended on this page are genuinely good deals: both cheaper than they normally are, and offering decent performance.

When is Black Friday? Prepare for the sales event with our expert advice.

How to spot a good deal on a fridge freezer

Christina Woodger Which? fridge freezer expert says:

Christina Woodger, Which? fridge freezer expert
  •  Whether it's on sale or not, a fridge freezer is a significant purchase that will hopefully last you for years. Be wary of great-sounding deals on fridge freezers that aren't energy efficient, as an electricity-hungry model could end up costing you more in the long-run.
  • Don’t be upsold on gimmicks or flashy features that you're not likely to use. Our research proves that manufacturers sometimes prioritise fancy features and settings over cooling or freezing food effectively. Read our reviews to make sure you're buying the best fridge freezer for you.
  • Always check there’s enough space in your kitchen to fit in your fridge freezer. You’ll need at least 5cm all around it for effective ventilation.

Where to find deals on specific fridge freezer brands

Big high street and online retailers such as Amazon, AO, Argos, Currys and John Lewis tend to offer better deals than the manufacturers.

To ensure you choose a model you’re happy with, read our fridge freezer reviews. That way, you’ll avoid picking up a ‘bargain’ that turns out to be a dud.

Haier fridge freezer deals

If you have your heart set on a multi-door or American-style fridge freezer, Haier produces a good range that are widely stocked at stores including AO, Currys and John Lewis. A bigger fridge freezer means a greater outlay though, so check all the major retailers’ websites to make sure you’re getting a competitive price.

Beko fridge freezer deals

Beko’s range of lower-priced fridge freezers is widely available on the high street and online from stockists, including AO.com, Currys and John Lewis. Fridgemaster fridge freezer deals

Fridgemaster fridge freezers are already often cheaper than average so you’ll need to look hard to find a discount. You’ll find the brand at cheaper retailers, including AO, Appliances Direct and Argos.

Samsung fridge freezer deals

It's a brand that may be more commonly associated with TVs than refrigeration, but Samsung has an extensive range of fridge freezers available at high-street and online-only stores, including Amazon, AO, Argos and John Lewis. You can also buy models from the Samsung website, but this is often the most expensive route.

Which fridge freezer features are worth paying extra for?

Beyond the basics, there are a few features worth looking out for:

  • Quick-chill and fast-freeze functions help to lock in the nutrients, so your food stays fresher for longer.
  • Adjustable door racks help you arrange the door storage to make the best use of the space.
