If you're still not certain what size of oven will be best for you, visit our best ovens guide for advice on oven types, sizes and recommended models.
Double ovens have one large oven and a separate cavity for a second oven and grill, whereas single ovens have the oven and the grill in the same cavity.
With double ovens, you can use the oven and the grill at the same time, which can be handy if you’re a keen cook or regularly cater for a crowd.
If you’re short on space, head over to our guide to the Best single ovens to find a model that will cook efficiently and evenly across both ovens.
Double ovens come in two sizes. Full height double ovens measure around 60cm wide and 90cm high and built-under double ovens measure around 60cm wide and 70cm high.
Full-height or full-sized double ovens are usually positioned at eye-level, so you can keep an eye on what’s cooking and get food in and out easier. They are large and will not fit under a kitchen counter, so you can only opt for one if you have the space for a full height column.
Built-under double ovens are designed to fit in beneath your kitchen work surface, so are better for kitchens with limited space. The individual ovens will typically be smaller than one single oven so you’ll get less cooking room in each oven. You may not be able to fit in something as large as a turkey in either, for example, so it's worth making sure that it will definitely be enough for you. There are fewer built-under models to choose from.
You can buy a double oven from around £260 to upwards of £1,500, but you don’t need to pay over the odds for a decent model. We’ve found a few Best Buy double ovens that cost under £400.
