The best back to school deals

Philips Azur 8000 Series DST8020/26 steam iron

Deal price: £65

Best price in last six months? Yes

Philips Azur 8000 Series DST8020/26
  • Tank capacity: 284ml
  • Cord length: 2.62m
  • Weighs 1.94kg

We like: Vertical steam functions

We don't like: Handle and buttons are slippery

This is the cheaper and simplified version of the Philips DST8050/26, which means it only has one setting. Philips claims that this guarantees no burns on clothing or fabrics while using it.

It has a steam flow rate of 55g/min, which should remove most wrinkles, but there's also a 240g/min steam boost that should sort out any stubborn creases.

It shuts itself off after eight minutes, so you won't need to worry about whether you've turned it off if you need to step out.

  • Non-stick pan
  • 28 x 5.2cm (diameter x depth)

We like: Lighter than many frying pans we tested

We don't like: Not oven safe

If you're looking for a new pan to prep meals for your back-to-schoolers or to give to your uni-bound kids, this is a good deal to consider.

It's made of PFOA and toxin-free ceramic, plus recycled plastic and aluminium. It's lightweight, so it isn't as cumbersome to handle as some other pans.

DeLonghi Icona Capitals KBOC3001 kettle

Deal price: £50

Best price in last six months? Yes

DeLonghi Icona Capitals KBOC3001
  • 1.7-litre capacity
  • 300ml minimum fill
  • Metal kettle

We like: Comfortable handle

We don't like: Narrow water gauge

It's not the cheapest kettle we've reviewed, but this brightly coloured model has had a significant discount in the sale, making it even better value.

You'll be able to boil just one mug (300ml) if you're only making a cuppa for yourself or can fill it up to 1.7 litres to make tea for your family or housemates. It boils a litre of water quite quickly, but you'll need to read our full review to find out just how fast.

Its limescale filter is made with a fine wire gauze, which may help if you live in a hard-water area.

Anker Soundcore Motion Boom Bluetooth speaker

Deal price: £60

Best price in last six months? Yes

Anker motion boom bluetooth speaker
  • Portable Bluetooth speaker
  • 16.8 x 30.2 x 11.7cm (H x W x D)
  • Weighs 1.54kg

We like: Sturdy handle, long battery life

We don't like: Heavy

If you're looking to crank out some tunes in the accommodation's common areas, this is a nifty speaker.

It's IPX7 rated so, if you're taking it outside, it'll survive being soaked or chucked into a pond – it even floats, so retrieving it after an accidental swim shouldn't be too difficult.

It also has a 'True Wireless Stereo' mode, which lets you connect two together for stereo sound if you buy a second one.

Cosori CAF-L501 air fryer

Cosori CAF-L501
  • Basket air fryer
  • 31 x 27 x 38cm (H x W x D)
  • Capacity: 1.233kg

We like: Easy to use

We don't like: Not as fast as some other models

We've seen this deal a few times this year, but it's a great one to consider if you're moving into a student house or flatshare. It's reasonably priced for an air fryer, and it won't take up too much space in a shared kitchen.

You'll be able to use plenty of automatic programs including chicken, chips, frozen food, steak, veggies and more. It comes with a two-year warranty, too.

Best price in last six months? Yes

Samsung Jet 95 Pro VS20C9547TB
  • Bagless and cordless handstick vacuum cleaner
  • 0.9 litre dust capacity
  • Weighs 2.8kg

We like: Versatile

We don't like: Could be quieter during use

This cordless vac comes with a fully removable and washable dustbin, an LCD display that lets you adjust the five suction levels, check on battery status and receive maintenance alerts, a freestanding charging base and a telescopic wand, which can be extended between 455cm and 655cm.

Like most cordless vacs, it comes with a removable handheld helper for smaller jobs and tight corners around your home.

In the box you'll find a pet tool, crevice tool, combination tool and flex tool for harder-to-reach areas; there’s also a spinning sweeper with disposable wet pads for mopping hard floors, and antibacterial reusable wet pads.

HP Smart Tank 5105 printer

Deal price: £160

Best price in last six months? No - was £147 last week

HP Smart tank 5105 printer
  • All-in-one inkjet
  • Ink tanks are refillable
  • Colour printer

We like: Supports Apple AirPrint and wi-fi printing, has a scanner

We don't like: No automatic document feeder or auto-duplex

Rather than traditional cartridges, this model has refillable ink tanks that you fill with bottles. This can keep printing costs low, and you'll get extra ink included when you buy it.

Being an all-in-one model, you'll also get a scanner to copy and print documents.

If you're looking for something that can print assignments and essays, this is a good choice to consider.

Pixel 7 Pro

Deal price: £399

Best price in last six months? Yes

Google Pixel 7 pro smartphone
  • 128GB storage
  • 6.7-inch QHD+ screen
  • Google Tensor G2 Processor

We like: Takes superb pictures

We don't like: Short battery life

The Pixel 9 is coming out soon, but it might be worth saving your cash and picking up the slightly older Pixel 7 Pro instead.

It's a big phone that packs a lot in – its 12GB of Ram, high screen resolution and three rear cameras are nothing to scoff at, even when compared to newer models.

We've covered this bargain extensively across many of our deal pages, and the price has only gotten cheaper. If you're looking for a new phone for the new term, this is well worth considering.

We like: Virtually no running noise

We don't like: Poorer battery life than previous models (based on our tests)

The 2022 MacBook Air is the latest in Apple's line-up of popular lightweight laptops: it's lighter, thinner and has a more powerful processor than its predecessor – making it a great choice to tote around to classes, seminars and lectures.
