What does Aviva travel insurance offer?

Aviva is one of the largest insurers in the UK. It has nearly 19 million customers and can trace its heritage back 320 years. 

It offers one travel insurance policy, which you can take out for year-round insurance or single trips. You can cover up to eight family members on one policy.

How good is Aviva at handling claims?

The latest data from the Financial Conduct Authority shows that Aviva paid out 75-80% of claims made on annual European policies in 2022 – aligned with the average of 76%.

It accepted 80-85% of claims made on annual worldwide policies, which is in line with the average of 82%.

It paid 75-80% of claims made on single-trip policies. That's above the market average of 73%.

For claims that aren't the result of a medical emergency, call 0345 030 6983 (from the UK) and +44 (0)1603 603 716 (from overseas). You can also claim online.

Before calling for cancellation claims, you should contact your travel agent and/or airline to seek a refund or to move your trip.
