Dear,

[Reference: contract number]

On [date] you carried out the following work at the above property: [details of the work carried out].

I have discovered the following problems: [details]

[If you entered into your contract before 1 October 2015] The Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 states that the contract I have with you contains implied terms that;

  • the work has to be carried out using reasonable skill and care
  • any goods supplied, or materials used must be of satisfactory quality, fit for their purpose and as described

[OR]

[If you entered into your contract after 1 October 2015] The Consumer Rights Act states that the contract I have with you contains implied terms that;

  • the work has to be carried out using reasonable skill and care
  • any goods supplied, or materials used must be of satisfactory quality, fit for their purpose and as described

For the reasons detailed above, you are in breach of contract and accordingly I would request that you contact me to make arrangements to carry out the necessary remedial work.

I look forward to hearing from you in the next seven days.

Yours faithfully,
