Vote.org Surpasses One Million New Voter Registrations For The 2024 Cycle

Last updated on September 4, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today Vote.org, the largest nonpartisan voter registration and get-out-the-vote platform in America, announced that it has registered more than one million voters during the 2024 election cycle – including a record-breaking percentage of younger voters under 35 compared to the 2020 election cycle.

Youth engagement programs are a core pillar of Vote.org’s strategy, and those efforts have led to unprecedented mobilization among younger voters: Voters under the age of 35 account for 79% of the over one million voters registered through Vote.org this cycle compared to 64% in the 2024 cycle, while 18-year-olds account for 34% of registrations in 2024 compared to 8% in 2020. Vote.org has a best-in-class 81% rate of converting registrations to votes.

“As we approach National Voter Registration Day this month and enter a critical stretch in this election season, Vote.org is primed to build on this momentum and capitalize on our strategic partnerships and programs to galvanize even more voters across the nation,” Andrea Hailey, CEO of Vote.org. “Since 2020, anti-democracy forces across the country have pulled out every stop to prevent Americans from exercising their right to vote, with 24 states passing anti-voter laws. But we are fighting tooth and nail to break down every barrier standing between voters and the ballot box.

“The results we’ve generated so far this cycle are proof of concept that our efforts to reach voters with trusted, authentic, and culturally-competent resources are inspiring Americans nationwide to make their voices heard,” Hailey continued. “Every voter deserves to have a say in our democracy, which is why we will continue working relentlessly to equip them with the information they need through Election Day. And with Vote.org’s strong historical conversion rate from registration to the ballot box of 81%, we are well-equipped to turn registrations into votes this November.”

Of these over one million new voter registrations, roughly 17% are from voters who live in states that were decided by slim margins in the 2020 presidential election. So far during the 2024 cycle, Vote.org has registered roughly:

  • 18,000 voters in Arizona
  • 43,000 voters in Georgia
  • 21,000 voters in Michigan
  • 28,000 voters in North Carolina
  • 37,000 voters in Pennsylvania
  • 19,000 voters in Wisconsin
  • 8,000 voters in Nevada

In addition to registering more than one million new voters, so far in the 2024 cycle Vote.org has:

  • Helped roughly 280,000 voters request an absentee ballot
  • Helped nearly two million voters verify their registration status
  • Sent over 25 million election reminders to voters

In recent months, Vote.org has helped generate a surge in voter engagement, registering 376.8K voters since President Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential election on July 21. These voters are also overwhelmingly under 35, and many are newly eligible 18-year-olds.

Vote.org has a proven track record of executing highly effective, culturally competent, and cost-efficient voter registration programs that drive engagement and increase voting participation rates among young voters and people of color. The organization leverages partnerships with companies, nonprofits, athletes, celebrities, labor unions, artists, and many others to amplify its reach in targeted communities by empowering trusted messengers and platforms with the trusted brand and information provided by Vote.org.

Vote.org also recently re-launched its ElectionDay.org program, challenging companies of all sizes to guarantee paid time off to vote for their employees on or before Election Day. In 2020, roughly 1.8 million employees nationwide benefitted from their employers’ participation in this initiative.
