Vote.org Statement on Wisconsin Supreme Court Election

Last updated on April 4, 2023

“Today’s election may very well be the most consequential election in Wisconsin’s history, and the outcome could test the strength of democracy in the United States,” said Andrea Hailey, CEO of Vote.org. “As Wisconsinites head to the polls, it’s important to keep in mind what is at stake in this pivotal election. The Supreme Court could have significant input on the future of laws and policies in the state, including election administration, voting rights, redistricting and on every key issue that passes through the legislature. And, it could affect the outcome of the 2024 presidential election. Following the 2020 election, the Wisconsin Supreme Court dismissed the baseless election fraud claims from the Trump campaign, which strengthened democracy and the rule of law at the highest level. If a similar challenge were to arise in 2024, it’s vital that the Supreme Court is made up of jurists that act in the best interests of democracy.”

Vote.org encourages Wisconsinites to visit Vote.org for everything they need to vote, including information on voting laws in the state, polling locations and more.

“Today’s election will shape not only how Wisconsinites vote, but whether or not their vote truly counts,” Hailey added. “It’s not an overstatement to say this election could very well impact free and fair elections across the country – the very foundation of our democracy.”
