Vote.org, Propel Relaunch Partnership To Reach Millions of SNAP Recipients With Convenient Voter Registration Tools

Last updated on July 19, 2024

INDIANAPOLIS – Today Vote.org, the largest nonpartisan voter registration and get-out-the-vote platform in America, announced a renewed partnership with Propel, a company that helps millions of low-income Americans manage their public benefits and improve their financial health, to help Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients register to vote ahead of the 2024 election.

This collaboration allows SNAP beneficiaries to access Vote.org’s user-friendly registration tools directly on the homepage of Propel’s Providers app (www.JoinProviders.com), the platform that more than five million low-income Americans rely on to manage their food stamps benefits, save money, and find employment. In the months before the 2020 election, this partnership helped more than 56,000 SNAP recipients register to vote, and an additional 200,000 people used the app to verify their registration status.

Vote.org and Propel kickstarted their 2024 registration efforts in May. Since then, this initiative has helped:

  • Over 16,000 SNAP recipients register to vote
  • Over 52,000 SNAP recipients verify their registration status
  • Nearly 360,000 SNAP recipients have accessed Vote.org’s site through the app

“Vulnerable populations often have the most at stake in elections, but systemic barriers often push them out of the process,” said Andrea Hailey, CEO of Vote.org.“ By pairing Propel’s user-friendly system with Vote.org’s convenient registration tools, we are reaching millions of Americans where they are and empowering underserved communities to make their voices heard.”

“Supporting civic engagement goes hand-in-hand with Propel’s mission to help people have more control over their resources and improve their financial health,” said Jimmy Chen, CEO and Founder of Propel.“ Our collaboration with Vote.org helps empower low-income Americans to make their voice heard, and we’re thrilled to be partnering again this election year.”

With a goal of registering eight million voters during the 2024 cycle, Vote.org has launched a number of targeted programs to reach and activate historically underrepresented populations in particular. For example, the organization’s record-breaking radio advertising campaign uses culturally competent ads in underserved communities, while its HBCU engagement programs empower campus microinfluencers to reach their peers with reliable registration and voting information.

Vote.org has already registered more than 570,000 voters during the 2024 cycle.
