WASHINGTON –Today, Vote.org, the largest 501(c)(3) nonprofit, nonpartisan voting registration and get-out-the-vote (GOTV) technology platform in America, announced 35,252 new registrations, making yesterday the largest National Voter Registration Day since 2020. 157,041 eligible voters visited the site on September 19. This year’s numbers demonstrate a 22.5 percent jump in voter registrations compared to last year’s National Voter Registration Day. The site also saw a 72% increase in 18 year olds registering compared to National Voter Registration Day 2019, and a 115% increase in 18 year olds registering compared to 2022.

“Vote.org saw record-breaking traffic to our site this week as we celebrated National Voter Registration Day, a highly encouraging sign of voter enthusiasm especially among newly eligible voters. Time and time again young people are showing up and demonstrating they care about their rights and access to the ballot box,” said Andrea Hailey, CEO of Vote.org. “During the day on Tuesday we saw a 1226% jump in participation the hour after Taylor Swift posted. Our site was averaging 13,000 users every 30 minutes – a number that Taylor Swift would be proud of. Vote.org is seizing on this momentum and jump-starting our plans to register 8 million voters before Election Day 2024. We’ve already launched our registration program with our youth efforts across campuses, influencer engagement, radio, digital, social media and direct voter contacts. The 2024 election is already here, and now, it’s time to turn this enthusiasm into votes.”

On Tuesday morning, September 19, 2023, Taylor Swift posted an Instagram Story urging her followers to register to vote using Vote.org, the largest nonprofit, nonpartisan voting registration and get-out-the-vote (GOTV) technology platform in America. Taylor and Vote.org have been working together for several years.

In her message, Swift wrote:

“Are you registered to vote yet? I’ve been so lucky to see so many of you guys at my US shows recently. I’ve heard you raise your voices, and I know how powerful they are. Make sure you’re ready to use them in our elections this year! Register to vote in less than 2 minutes at vote.org/NVRD”

With Taylor’s message and Vote.org’s concentrated campaign on social media, through digital ads and its grassroots email list, NVRD 2023 was a record-breaking day. The same day, Vote.org announced its plans to register 8 million voters before Election Day 2024.

Vote.org has also launched its new campus engagement program, which focuses on youth registration and expands the organization’s efforts to include innovative experiments to test the best ways to engage college-aged voters.

Vote.org has released its 2022 Impact Report, which reveals the data and analytics from Vote.org’s work for the 2022 midterm elections. Vote.org specifically focused on engaging and activating younger voters and voters of color, and its work reached millions of voters from coast to coast.

In the 2022 election cycle, Vote.org saw more than 12 million visitors. The organization helped register more than 725,000 voters. In 2022, it reached voters nearly 270 million times using a variety of research-backed tactics, including sending 40 million unique messages to voters.
