Last updated on February 29, 2024

WASHINGTON– Today, Vote.org, the largest nonpartisan voting registration and get-out-the-vote platform in America, released a statement on the reintroduction of the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act in the United States Senate. The legislation would restore the 1965 Voting Rights Act and strengthen protections for all Americans, especially those who historically have faced discrimination at the ballot box.

“Voting should be accessible to every voter — no matter where they live, what they do for a living, their economic status, or the color of their skin,” said Vote.org CEO Andrea Hailey. “The John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act would be a critical step in ensuring our elections are safe, accessible and fair for all, regardless of location, class, or race. Vote.org continues to advocate for the safeguarding of voting rights, and we will continue to call on Congress to pass this once-in-a-generation piece of legislation that would restore and reinforce the protections of the historic Voting Rights Act and protect the freedom to vote for all Americans. Ensuring every eligible American has access to the ballot box is not a partisan issue.”
