A gift card API (Application Programming Interface) is a set of rules and protocols that enable different software applications to communicate and manage gift card operations. It allows businesses to integrate gift card functionalities into their existing systems, such as e-commerce platforms, mobile apps, and point-of-sale (POS) systems.

The Tremendous gift card API gives you programmatic access to send 2000+ payout options to recipients. If you’re thinking of integrating rewards or payouts into your website, app, or business workflows, our API will have you up and running in hours.

To get a Sandbox API key:

1. Create a free Sandbox account.

2. Go to Team Settings > Developers.

3. Click “Add API key” in the top-right to generate a new API key.

To obtain a production API key, simply fill out our API access request form. Once approved, you can generate API key under Team Settings > Developers.

To send a reward, you need to create an order for it on Tremendous.

To create an order, you first need to figure out:

1. What redemption options do you want to offer the recipient (e.g. let them choose between an Amazon gift card, a Visa prepaid card and dozens of other reward options)?

2. How do you want to pay for the reward?

Tremendous uses bearer authentication, where each request must include an HTTP header that includes your API key.

Using OAuth 2, you can allow your customers to authorize your platform to issue payments on their behalf. Register an app from the Developers page in your Tremendous account and read our API docs for more information.

You can tailor the design elements, copy, and redemption options to align with your brand identity and specific campaign requirements, ensuring a consistent experience for your recipients.

Our API allows clients to send ten requests per second. Custom rate limits are available for enterprise accounts. Read our docs on rate limiting.

E-gift cards and other digital rewards are delivered directly to recipients via email (our most popular option) or via SMS.

If a recipient states that they haven't received their reward, you can follow these steps for both email and SMS rewards.

Tremendous is free to use. There is no monthly fee, no setup fee, and no minimums.

There are no fees to send digital gift cards. You just pay the face value price. Payments using a credit card are subject to a 3% processing fee.
