Now I’m writing a new page on how each state managed up to 15th February 2021. Most of the research has been done. Dashboards have been created for each state. See Assam samples attached. I just have to finish writing the main page and writing a short commentary with links to Indian media articles for each state. This should be done in the next few days.

Note: If I use “state” it’s as shorthand for state and UT

A. A map of India shows all the states and UT’s with the names of the state or UT.

B. When you click on a state it brings up 2 coronavirus dashboards and a commentary on the coronavirus in that state. The commentary is in PDF format. It contains links to various articles in the Indian media.

C. There are 4 iterations of the map. Names of the states are shown on each iteration. A spreadsheet is supplied to populate the states in each iteration.

Map 1. shows the population of each state and the average level of vitamin d in ng/ml for citizens of the state in each state. 6 states that are severely vitamin d deficient are highlighted.

Map 2. shows the population of each state and the cumulative number of infected in each state up to 15th February. 4 states with the highest infection rates are highlighted.

Map 3a. shows the population of each state and the cumulative death rate for the state. 8 states with very high cumulative death rates are highlighted.

Map 3b. shows the population of each state and the cumulative death rate. 7 states with very low cumulative death rates are highlighted.

Map 4a. Shows the cumulative death rate in those infected. (Given as “ 1 in….”) States with a high death rate are highlighted.

Map 4b. Shows the cumulative death rate in those infected. (Given as “ 1 in….”) States with a low death rate among infected are highlighted.

There are 2 x 38 dashboards and 38 commentary PDF’s. In 3 of those PDF’s there is a link to a separate child PDF which contains the transcript of an interview with a citizen of that state. I have attached 2 sample dashboards for Assam.

I have attached a draft of the main page. When you click on a “Click Map” etc. section the main page will be replaced by the map in question. Make sure there is a “Back to main page” link on the map page. When you click on a state it will bring up the 2 dashboards side by side. Underneath the 2 dashboards the pdf commentary will be shown.

Notes:

• I have attached the spreadsheet which Shahanil used to make the dashboards. He has used percentages in the spreadsheet for the infection rates and death rates. I asked him to express these as “1 in…” in the dashboards. I think he converted the percentage to “1 in ….” format on the fly. I expect that you will be able to write a script to convert the columns. So I have not asked Shahanil to change the spreadsheets yet. I can ask him to do any changes that you want if necessary.

• I am still writing the main page but most of it stays as is. I just need to write a few more paragraphs but any further additions will be static apart from a few images embedded.

Keep an eye on the comments. I usually forget something.
