GIS Assignment Problem Statement Find the most suitable investment opportunity for any city of your choice for any one of the following: 1. Commercial Unit of your choice: a. Distance from Public Transport Stations (metro or bus) (public_transport) b. Distance from Conformal Services (e.g. Chemist Shops will preferably be located near hospital, 2-star restaurant/Dhaba near a college, stationary shop near a school, etc.) (shop) c. Distance from Arterial roads of the city (highway) d. Distance from Tourist Destinations (tourism) e. Distance from existing commercial areas (shop)(cluster) f. Building area based on activity (e.g. A mobile repair shop will be smaller but an Apple Store will be located in a relatively bigger complex) (building) g. Look into large scale commercial brands that use GIS analysis to identify suitable investment opportunities in a city and use their strategic location for validation and understanding other variables at play 2. Residential Unit for Underpaid Bachelor: a. Distance from a hypothetically generated office location by the student b. Distance from Public Transit hub (public_transport) c. House rent reduces with increase in distance from major roads, but moving too far away will increase travel time and expenses (highway) d. House rent reduces with increase in distance from water bodies and natural features (natural)(waterway) e. Cheap eating and accommodation places can be assumed to be found near university campuses (shop) f. In this case staying too close to amenities increases land rent while moving too far away deteriorates lifestyle, hence optimum buffer for all services must be determined 3. Residential unit for a Family of Five: a. Distance from two hypothetically generated office locations by the student (assuming both parents are earning) b. Distance from hospital assuming the family has one elder family member (healthcare) c. Distance from school/college based on assumed ages of children (amenity) d. Distance from green spaces (natural) e. Building Area (building) f. Distance from arterial roads of the city (highway) g. Assume walkable distance to be 700m to 1200m for green spaces and institutional bodies.
