Serve the City mobilises volunteers in Belgium to provide hot food, practical help, education and social engagement to asylum seekers, homeless people, children in need and victims of abuse. Aiming to serve our community as a citizen, we have a long standing relationship with Serve the City Brussels since 2005. Toyota Motor Europe is their proud, long standing partner.

We like to serve our community

Aiming to serve our community as a citizen, we have a long standing relationship with Serve the City Brussels since 2005. Since then, our employees have been supporting the Brussels branch of the global volunteer movement by donating and volunteering. Last year, over 100 employees participated in Serve the City’s Lunch 4 All volunteer activity and distributed more than 7000 meals. We offer not only our time but also our expertise in Toyota Production System and 5S to help our partner boost their efficiency in cleaning and storage organisation.
“It’s not just about getting a healthy meal, it’s about making people who are often invisible, feel like respected members of the community.”
Jeremie Malengreaux, Associate Director, Serve the City

New Proace EV all set to serve on streets

As part of our partnership, we donated a first Proace van in 2015. Getting meals to hundreds of people every day takes a lot of coordination, and the van is crucial for logistics. After serving thousands of meals it was time for an upgrade. In January we were thrilled to present our partner with a brand new Proace EV. As in 2015, a number of practical accessories have been installed by Toyota to make volunteers’ job easier. Maintenance and insurance costs will be covered by Toyota too.

One more surprise

The new Proace EV was handed over to Serve the City with a collection of practical donations that we know will make a difference to the people they serve.
“Our drivers are going to love it! The van is essential for everything we do – delivering food to our projects, transporting clothes, and hygiene products to vulnerable people. And we have also been able to help move victims of abuse to a safe house.”
Nathan Torrini, Executive Director, Serve the City
“I’ve taken part in the Lunch 4 All activity and I really loved it. I even went back with my kids and we all found it to be a very valuable experience. It was great to make a difference in someone’s life even for just a day. Every leader in Toyota Motor Europe has committed to join the Lunch 4 All at least once this year.”
