The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) was established in January 1999 by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Restructuring and Reform Act of 1998 to provide independent oversight of IRS activities.
We provide high-quality audit, investigative, and evaluation services to promote integrity, efficiency, and economy in the administration of the nation’s tax system.
