Smaller stock to watch

SHARES in Enterprise, the AIM-listed support services group, have had a good run over the past few months, helped by July’s announcement that the company is preferred bidder to buy Thames Water’s Subterra subsidiary. A deal, widely expected by the end of the month, should boost forecasts, but Arbuthnot suggests the shares may have even further to run, driven by the company’s likely switch to the main market. The shares were steady at 306p.

CHARLTON ATHLETIC, the football club operator that last week signed Paolo Di Canio, the temperamental Italian striker, has seen several directors line up for extra shares in recent weeks. Bob Whitehand yesterday announced he was following suit with the purchase of 96,154 shares at 19.25p,
