THE subdued demeanour of the Rangers supporters told its own story as they trudged away from Ibrox on Wednesday night. Having watched their team concede their first European goal against opposition from Denmark, they knew they were facing the prospect of a fourth successive season without Champions League football, and as if to rub salt into the wound, news filtered through that Celtic had virtually booked their place in the group stages with a comprehensive 4-0 win away to MTK Hungaria.
A 1-1 draw with FC Copenhagen means this third-round qualifying tie is still alive in two weeks’ time when Rangers visit the Parken Stadium, but the jeers that greeted the players at the final whistle suggest the fans are unconvinced this side are capable
