Stephen Curry contract details: Warriors guard signs massive one-year extension through 2027 image

Warriors superstar Stephen Curry isn't playing for anyone new anytime soon.

Curry has agreed to a one-year, $62.6 million contract extension to remain in Golden State through the 2026-27 season, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday.

The greatest shooter of all time will continue to build on his Warriors legacy. His new extension will take him up to his age 38 season, racking up 18 years played in Golden State.

Curry proved he still has plenty left in the tank this offseason, catalyzing the United States to a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He still averaged 26.4 points, 5.1 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 4.8 3-pointers per game for the Warriors last season, earning an All-NBA Third Team honor and 2024 Clutch Player of the Year.

Stephen Curry contract extension details

Curry signed a one-year, $62.6 million extension to keep him in a Warriors uniform through the 2026-27 season.

A one-year extension was the maximum Golden State could offer Curry because of the NBA's "over-38" rule.

The "over-38" rule limits a team from offering contracts lasting four or more years to any player who is at least 38 or will turn 38 during the contract. Since Curry still had two years remaining on his original deal and will turn 38 during the new extension season, the Warriors could not exercise a contract beyond 2026-27.

At the time of the extension, Curry's $62.6 million in 2026-27 will make him the highest-paid player in the league that season.

This new deal also puts Curry over $500 million in career earnings, joining LeBron James and Kevin Durant as the only players in NBA history to achieve that feat.
