How soon will I receive my membership cards?
You should receive your permanent membership cards approximately four weeks from the day your contribution is received. If you purchase your membership on site, you will be given a temporary membership card to use until your permanent cards arrive.
How many membership cards are included with my membership?
All membership categories include two cards.
How can I receive a guest card with my membership?
Request one card in the primary Member’s name and designate the second card as a guest card.
Family Plus Memberships cover four adults, yet only two people get membership cards. How does that work?
Family Plus Members and above can opt to receive two personalized cards or one personalized card and one guest card.
What privileges come with a guest card?
Only active Members with personalized cards can reap the full array of membership benefits, including discounts. Guest cards are strictly valid for Museum and Noah’s Ark at the Skirball™ admission only. However, guest cards are transferable and reusable. An active Member in our system or a guest card holder can bring up to three adults and eight children to enjoy free Museum and Noah’s Ark admission year-round. Guest card holders may not always be eligible to receive benefits through our reciprocal programs (which are available to Family Plus Members or higher) as some reciprocal institutions only accept personalized membership cards. Please contact the specific institution in advance for details.
Can a nanny or caregiver have a card in their own name so they can accompany my family members?
With a Household Membership or higher, you may designate a nanny or caregiver as the second Member. If you have multiple caregivers, please request a guest card. Your caregiver may use the guest card for free admission but will not be eligible for other member benefits or discounts.
Why should I consider purchasing a Family Plus Membership instead of a Family Membership?
Benefits—lots of them! Family Plus Membership covers four adults and eight children under the age of 18 for Museum and Noah’s Ark admission, as well as discounts on up to eight tickets to most of the programs happening at the Skirball. You also enjoy discounted or free admission to more than 1,200 museums nationwide through our reciprocal membership programs.
Do Members receive priority entry for Noah’s Ark?
In order to accommodate as many people as fairly and comfortably as possible, there is no priority entry to Noah’s Ark for Members. However, Members have the benefit of reserving in advance—online or by phone—without service fees. Members can reserve as many tickets as are allowed under their type of membership. Reservations are recommended for both Members and non-Members to guarantee entry to Noah’s Ark. Please note: the Skirball is closed on Mondays.
Why aren’t there any Member privileges for Noah’s Ark on FREE Thursdays?
The Skirball offers FREE admission to the general public on Thursdays year-round. In order to accommodate the most people in the fairest way possible, advance reservations to Noah’s Ark are available on a first-come, first-served basis only.
If I join with someone who does not reside with me, will we each receive the Skirball print program guide by mail?
While we automatically mail the program guide and other correspondence to the primary Member only, we can add multiple email addresses to your account so that each Member receives the monthly Member e-news. Members-only e-news includes details about Member benefits and about the various programs and events happening at the Skirball each month.
Does my Skirball Membership get me into any other museums?
Family Plus Members and above enjoy reciprocal membership benefits through several programs. The Association of Children’s Museums offers 50% off admission to their participating museums for up to six people per membership. The North American Reciprocal Museum Program, the Council of American Jewish Museums, and the Museum Alliance Reciprocal Program offer free reciprocal admission to their participating institutions. Please note that some reciprocal institutions only accept personalized membership cards, and that the number of free admissions per membership card varies from museum to museum. Please contact the specific institution in advance for details.
What are some of the local museums on the reciprocal lists?
The North American Reciprocal Museum Program’s participating institutions include Craft Contemporary, LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, Chinese American Museum, Museum of Latin American Art, Japanese American National Museum, Bowers Museum, and the Autry Museum of the American West. The Association of Children’s Museums partners with Kidspace Children’s Museum and Cayton Children’s Museum. For a full list of participating institutions, please visit the website for each museum group on our reciprocal program page.
When will I receive renewal notices?
You will receive your first renewal notice by email about ten to twelve weeks prior to your membership expiration date.
If I renew my membership before it lapses, when will the new membership begin?
We highly encourage you to renew your membership four or more weeks before your membership lapses. You will never lose time on your membership by renewing early, and your benefits will continue uninterrupted. Your new membership period will begin the day after your existing membership ends.
