Paws for Shade

Paws for Shade is a tree-planting enhancement project in Shelby Farms Park’s Outback Off-Leash Dog Park.  Dog lovers and other Park visitors can sponsor the planting of 6-7 foot red maple trees in and around the trails and various places throughout the dog park to create areas of shade and beauty. 

Support Levels

Your gift of $550 supports the planting of one tree in the Outback Off-Leash Dog Park.  

Recognition includes: 

• Set of 5 note cards featuring photos of the Dog Park by Memphis photographer, Justin Fox Burks

• Recognition on the Shelby Farms Park website 

• Tribute card sent to recipient if the gift is made in honor of or in memory of a special pup

Your gift of $1,500 supports the planting of three trees in the Outback Off-Leash Dog Park.

Recognition includes: 

• Set of 5 note cards featuring photos of Dog Park by Memphis photographer,  Justin Fox Burks

• Commemorative Paws For Shade personalized laser engraved acrylic keepsake

• Recognition on the Shelby Farms Park website

Planting Information

• Trees from donations made before October 1 will be planted by December 15 

• Trees from donations made before February 1 will be planted by April 15  

• Tree supporters will know the area where their tree is planted, but will not be connected to or identified with a specific tree.

• Shelby Farms Park Conservancy (SFPC) reserves the right to determine the planting location of trees.

The Red Maple

Red maple is one of the best named of all trees, featuring something red in each of the seasons—buds in winter, flowers in spring, leafstalks in summer, and brilliant foliage in autumn. The Red Maple is often one of the first trees to color up in autumn, and it puts on one of the most brilliant displays of any tree. This pageant of color, along with the red maple's relatively fast growth and tolerance to a wide range of soils, makes it a widely planted favorite. The Red Maple creates ample canopies of shade, grows about 18” a year and reaches a height at maturity of close to 60 feet.  

DOG TAGS

Want to make play possible for your favorite pup?  Personalized dog tags not only represent a tribute to an adored four-legged friend, but also an investment in The Outback Off-Leash Area (sponsored by our friends at Jim Keras Subaru). These tags hang on a special sign in the Dog Park. Support from dog park fans help keep this special place clean, green, safe and cared for.

These tags come in a variety shapes and in official Park colors. Choose your favorite on the order form!

All proceeds from the sale of these tags help maintain The Outback Off-Leash Dog Park and give our dogs a place to do what they do best - run, play, socialize and just have some dog-gone fun!

LEGACY WALK PAVER STONES

Honor a special pet or pet-lover on the Legacy Walk located at the entrance to the Outback Off-Leash Dog Park. With your donation, your personalized engraved paver stone is added to the welcoming walkway in the Dog Park.
