Seyfarth was founded in Chicago in 1945 by distinguished labor attorneys who were both practical and visionary. Chicago remains the firm’s largest office, and has grown in size and strength. Our attorneys practice in virtually all aspects of the law that relate to today’s business operations across various industries.

The Chicago office has maintained its nationally recognized strength in the areas of labor and employment and employee benefits law, while greatly expanding and strengthening its practices in the areas of corporate and finance, environmental, estate planning, real estate, intellectual property, trade secrets, bankruptcy, and litigation.

CULTURE

The Chicago office is known for its unique, innovative, and collaborative culture. 

This office has a long history of giving back to our community through pro bono work, community service, and charitable giving. Attorneys and legal professionals from the Chicago office participate in Seyfarth’s pro bono program through an array of opportunities that are offered year round. The office’s most popular programs serve low-income seniors, people affected by domestic violence, immigrants, and individuals seeking second chances after incarceration. Our volunteer attorneys also dedicate their corporate, real estate, and employment expertise to nonprofit organizations that have transactional legal needs.

Our flagship charities are the American Cancer Society and Cradles to Crayons. In the spring, the Chicago office rallies to support the American Cancer Society through participation in the Relay for Life, the Discovery Ball, and various related fundraising activities. Each summer, our Chicago office coordinates an officewide Day of Service benefiting Cradles to Crayons, a nonprofit organization that provides low-income and homeless children with the essential items they need to thrive. Hundreds of attorneys and staff members participate in the service day by contributing time and donating goods. Around the holidays, the office partners with local charities for an annual drive to collect new clothing and toys for children in need.

The Chicago office is located in the iconic Willis Tower with layout features that include collaboration and technology lounges, cutting-edge technology features, first-class amenities, and unrivaled 360-degree panoramic views of Chicago. Our office is designed to meet the current and future needs of Seyfarth, while creating efficiencies in the way we work.

The spirit of collaboration among staff and attorneys is constantly present throughout the six-floor area. Our open interior stairwells allow staff to move easily from floor to floor, and there are a number of meeting spaces on every floor that contain dry-erase writable walls. This allows staff and attorneys to share good words about their colleagues, create and share ideas, and communicate concepts. The main conference rooms include cutting-edge technology that allows for quick and seamless connectivity of devices for phone and videoconferencing. With no corner offices, the floorplan is specially designed to maximize the Willis Tower’s abundant natural light throughout all interior and exterior offices. All offices and workstations feature standing desks and dual monitors. Our state-of-the-art facility in Chicago is designed to best serve our clients not just in Chicago, but across the country and around the globe.
