SBE Rulemaking Update

SBE shared this graphic timeline of the rulemaking process in the September Board Meeting materials. It shows what has been done in terms of draft rule outreach and where we are in the rulemaking process regarding graduation requirements.

SBE received testimony from 21 people at a Public Hearing on October 24 at the Old Capitol Building (photos below) in Olympia and remotely at ESD 112 in Vancouver, ESD 105 in Yakima, and ESD 101 in Spokane. The hearing ran from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

The Board must review public testimony and official written feedback, then consider final adoption of rules at the November 6-7 Board Meeting in Bremerton.

The official comment period for these rules ends on October 28. If you'd like to provide written testimony before that deadline, please email rulescoordinatorSBE@k12.wa.us.
