National Prevention Week 2022 (May 8-14) was held virtually for the first time, extending the reach of the prevention conversation. Here are some highlights and resources from the year.
2022 Outcomes Report
Read the 2022 Outcomes Report (PDF | 7.1 MB) to learn about the highlights and successes from National Prevention Week 2022 that helped strengthen communities, build resilience, and create hope. Some main highlights include:
- Engagement: This year SAMHSA introduced #MyPreventionStory, a new storytelling initiative to help engage individuals and encourage them to share how vital substance misuse prevention has been to their lives. Launching in May 2022, #MyPreventionStory saw a potential reach of 2.1M. Separately, National Prevention Week had a potential reach of 34.9M on social media during the week.
- Brand Awareness: This year, there were over 2,900 registrants for National Prevention Week, over 2,700 registrants for SAMHSA’s Prevention Day, and over 1,900 registrants for the Communities Talk Town Hall. More than 23,000 people visited the National Prevention Week website this year and the homepage was viewed more than 35,000 times.
- Resources: From April 1 to May 14, the Prevention Toolkit with information about planning an event received over 5,100 visits and pages to access National Prevention Week promotional materials receives over 4,700 visits. This year, the most downloaded resource was the National Prevention Week Fact Sheet with 1,600 downloads.
