Construction Permits
A permit is required of any new or modified air pollution source prior to construction or making modifications (including equipment, process, or design changes) that affect the level of air contaminants emitted. This permit is obtained through the Notice of Construction program.

Asbestos
Asbestos is classified as a hazardous air pollutant by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and is the reason why demolition and renovation projects must comply with certain asbestos requirements before they begin.

Title V Operating Permits
Air Operating Permits, which are also referred to as Title V permits, are required for major sources of air pollution. These permits must be renewed every five years.

Registration
Annual fees pay for agency regulatory activities and reflects the estimated level of effort for us to ensure compliance with air quality regulations.

Marijuana
Approved marijuana growers and producers are subject to additional local, state and regional regulations and requirements. These additional requirements come with their own timelines and costs. Growers and producers must obtain an air emissions permit from our Agency.

Dry Cleaners
Over 80% of dry cleaners use Percholorethylene (or PERC) in their cleaning process. This dangerous chemical can cause serious health problems. Dry cleaning operators must inspect their equipment every two weeks to check for PERC leaks.

Mobile Spray Coaters
The Agency works to reduce nuisance and emissions of mobile spray coating through the use of low emission coatings and capture of spray coating releases.

Composting
Composting converts organic solid waste into enriched organic soil. Compost production can be done on many levels, from the backyard bin to large commercial operations which produce composted material for sale.

Civil Penalties
The Agency is authorized by the state Clean Air Act (Act) to issue civil penalties to individuals and companies who violate the Act or the Agency’s regulations.
