Why Do I Have to Pay for Some Prime Video Titles?

In addition to Included with Prime titles, you can rent or buy from a large selection of TV shows and movies.

The Prime Video Store allows you to rent and buy TV shows and movies from a large catalog of titles that may not be available as part your subscription, including new movie releases soon after theatrical release. Once you buy a title, you will always have instant access to it in My Stuff. To learn more, see Rent and Buy Prime Video Titles.

Sometimes TV shows or movies which may have been Included with Prime could require purchase because of changes made by the owners of the content. Unless we own the rights to the content, we aren't able to control when and if a TV show or movie will require purchase

Purchases from the Prime Video store that are not Included with Prime are automatically charged to the payment method specified for digital purchases. This can be updated via Update Your Payment Method. As soon as the order completes, purchases are available to view in your Purchases & Rentals in "My Stuff."

Note: If you currently pay for your Prime or Prime Video subscription through Amazon, or through a third-party carrier, any purchases or rentals will be charged to the payment method selected in your Amazon account. If you don’t have a Prime or Prime Video subscription, if the Prime Video subscription is paid through Apple, or if you don't have a valid payment method and billing address set up in your Amazon account, then any purchase or rental in the Prime Video app for iOS or Apple TV is charged to the payment method in your iTunes & App Store settings.
